Thanks to all of you who have voted in polls and posted your thoughts.
I must apologize as I've been a bit distracted over the last month writing my
dissertation.
It's not over yet but there's light at the end of the tunnel!

I've been a terrible host! I haven't introduced myself, and I haven't asked you
to introduce
yourselves! Sorry! Let's put that right...

As for me, your devoted PronSIG moderator...
Well, I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, originally. I've taught and trained
EFL in
Spain, Taiwan, Mexico, Peru and England. At the moment I'm writing a masters
dissertation on intonation in complex interactions. I'm also very interested in
articulatory
settings and the physiological aspects of speech. I'm currently struggling to
learn
Japanese. When I'm not being obsessive about linguistics, I enjoy salsa dancing,
juggling,
photography and wild, green places.

So, please, give a minute to let us all know who you are, where you're from,
what you're
interested in, and anything else you'd like to tell us!

I'll be closing the present polls on Friday, so if you haven't voted yet, it's
your last chance.
Then I'll start threads on any contentions there, and on issues raised in the
recent editions
