Empirical data on ELF   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #65 of 382 |
Hi folks,
Ok, Jenkins' Lingua Franca Core, which is quoted all over the place, was based
on 30 hours of
rather selectively analyzed data. Are there any other studies to corroborate, or
refute, the
findings? It seems really strange that Jenkins' original paper emphasized that
it was
empirical, yet I haven't seen anything empirical from her since (except for that
one where she
interviewed teachers and they all disagreed with her and she ignored them, TESOL
Quarterly
2005, I think).
Is ELF 'research' a purely political movement, or is there any sensible research
going on in
this area? ;-)

Alex.
