I'm a great believer in appropriate articulatory training i.e. according to need, not a trot through the phonemes of English, but was hammered for saying so in a recent discussion on  the teaching of pronunciation on the TTEdSIG list, especially by Scott Thornbury. I'll pull together parts of the thread and post here. I think members of this list might be entertained.
