Richard,
Thanks for the reply! Very much appreciated. So my best friend and I
got together this last Friday night and rolled up a squad of Elysian
Drop troops (we made the whole squad, figuring there might be some
"attrition" during the game") and tried out the game.
Worked wonderfully. In the process of working through our first
couple of combats, I came across the cover armor values on the page
you mentioned, but didn't know exactly how to use them. Now, with
your posted reply to my question, it all makes sense. I like your
idea (especially since it ties in well with my tabletop 40k
experience) and will go forward with using it as you described. You
may want to include a blurb very similar to the one you wrote me in
the rules to more explicitly cover this scenario, as it was confusing
for me the first time I read it.
Also, I worked up rules for the Valryrie Drop Ship as well, and will
post them to the group for review (I'd like to get some feedback on
how balanced a vehicle I made) tomorrow (left em at home today,
whoops!). In our one trial combat between it and a chaos landspeeder
(used land speeder example vehicle in book with some extra crew in
crew compartment) it worked pretty well. Valkyrie took a couple hits,
but the Autocannon didn't do enough damage to survive the lascannons
replying shots (not to mention a few bolts from the door gunners,
hehe).
Loving the game so far, and will continue to play/playtest/enjoy it
for the forseeable future. I will strive to continue to provide good
feedback to
the community that made this game happen. You have my deep and
sincere appreciation.
