Streamlining character gen?

How about:

- Use the 'average' characteristics, rather than rolling for each.

- Choosing a career, rather than rolling for it. (Perhaps even ignore
the characteristic requirements, which are mainly there to reduce the
chance of getting a career that completely clashes with your
characteristics.)

- You could allow PCs to choose maybe three extra abilities that they
want to have, rather than the D6 random ones. The GM would have to
veto any that were unbalancing or uncharacterful though - psychic
abilities, for example, or a farmer with Specialist Weapon - Heavy.

Beyond that, everything else seems pretty simple.

Alternatively, you could maybe try the optional non-random character
gen rules given at the end of the chapter.
