I'm looking forward to it, even if there is a little daemon at the
back of my mind whispering, "Damn them, damn them, damn them!"
Having seen the job they've done with WFRP, Green Ronin should be able
to pull off some good stuff with 40k.
Three games sounds to me like a good plan, as there's such a wide
range of opinions regarding what exactly a 40k-based RPG should look
like - investigative, action-packed, heroic, cinematic, gritty... and
so on. These games look as if they'll be able to cover at least some
of those themes, even if the WFRP-based system still leans towards the
severed limbs and shattered spines style of combat.
Add to that the sheer size of the 40k universe. It dwarfs the
Warhammer World in scope and possibilities.
With minimal background content (and that's tied in with rules
chapters), Imperium manages to rack up 450 pages, and that's without a
bestiary. That's nearly double the length of the 2nd Edition WFRP
corebook.
I'll probably end up doing what I've been doing with WFRP and buy
every single book that comes out (maybe I'll even be able to afford it
by 2007).
I'm weak like that.
