Slightly delayed reaction to this mail but never mind....

I'm confused....

I know 100% absolutely definitely that when the James H Nocturnal Emissions
programme ended on Key 103 and was replaced by James Stannage, it started in
early 1990, because I did 35 consecutive "Silly Hour Chart" rundowns, some
live in person in the studio and some live on the phone. In September 1990
I left Manchester to go to University in Liverpool and carried it on from
there for about 3 weeks before the Silly Hour (between 10pm and 11pm)
disappeared into history.

So that means that the Nocturnal Emissions must have ended in early 1990.
Therefore if you achieved student status in 1990 (as I did) then you must
have left Bolton after the Nocturnal Emissions finished???

Does anyone know if I have the order correct of his history - ?

I have recalculated when I took over from Phil Wood and before I was
convinced it was late 1985 but I have remembered my first letter that I sent
in (about 2 months after he started) and I described my age as 13 and two
thirds, which would have made it around February / March 1986 which means he
must have started the programme around January 1986.

Before 1985 UNKNOWN
1985 - Early 1986 Daytime Piccadilly Radio
Early 1986 - Late 1987 / Early 1988 Nocturnal Emisions on Piccadilly
Radio - also did Saturday Sport
Early - Mid 1988 Various programmes on the new Key 103 including Sunday
lunchtime and midweek afternoon
Mid 1988 - Late 1989 / Early 1990 Nocturnal Emissions on Key 103
Early 1990 until at least mid 1991 Breakfast show with Dave Ward
Mid 1991 - Mid 1994 UNKNOWN
Mid 1994 - April 1995 Hallam FM (is this correct?)
April 1995 - Sept 1998 BBC GMR in various programme slots
Late 1998 through to Mid 1999 UNKNOWN
Mid 1999 - Mid 2000 Talk Sport with various programmes including The Fact
Works
Mid 2000 - Early 2001 Century 105 on the Football Phone In
Early 2001 - Early 2002 UNKNOWN
Early 2002 - Mid 2002 Team Talk 252
Since Mid 2002 Very occasional appearances on Key 103 covering for James
Stannage holiday

I also have appeared on the James Whale TV programme - but not live in
person - but I sent in a video of me singing the Yodelling Working Man song
that I think James H had played on his programme and I had it on tape so I
mimed it and wore a rain jacket and did pretend sweeping up with a brush
(all acted out in the top quality surroundings of my bedroom) and this was
considered entertaining enough to be featured on Whaley's Wailers...

Sam Pierce was definitely from Royton - he used to have his letters in the
Manchester Evening News, signed S. Pierce, Royton.

That Dale Winton story sounds like it should be featured on the web site -
could you write me a paragraph and I will do a page on how James is
responsible for the Dale Winton phenomenon.

What is the best way to encode cassettes to mp3 or real audio so I can
feature them on the web site??

Simon

Yes, it was the forerunner of 606, featuring JHR and Tommy Docherty. According to the Marc Riley bio it was called "Jim and the Doc" though and it was at a...

My memory is returning... 6-0-6 was longer running than that - I think it started in about 94 with Danny Baker as the host - they sacked him in 1997. But the...
