A caller earlier in the week made similar points, claiming that
James was being stitched up by the controllers of the program.
The quality of the callers has indeed been very low. I actually
found the calls from Roy, Ray and Renee to be amongst
the more entertaining ones last night.
I've been disappointed with the shows this week, but maybe
it's down to a post-Stannage hangover effect amongst callers.
Hopefully James will be given time to mould a different style of
show (4 hours is far too long for a start) , though I have noticed
that at times he is talking almost painfully slowly, as though
his synapses aren't quite as sharp as they used to be. And
he's been unlucky to start in a week of such 'slow' news where
there has been nothing substantial for him to get his teeth into.
He hinted last night that he may not bother turning up next
week, and I wouldn't blame him if he didn't.
