I've started uploading some MP3 clips with letters and phone calls from me
and other WHGS people.
I've put 8 up so far onto www.jameshreeve.co.uk - all are from June and July
1986 and most have at least one old Jingle in them.
Plus one of the clips is of the record he played called "Your're My Son" by
"Kenny Rogered" - which contains dodgy lyrics - in fact he surprising barely
commented at the end.
He says it is from the album : "Never Mind The Original's Here's The Hee Bee
Gee Bees" and my extensive research finds this about it:
The Hee Bee Gee Bees were a comedy group consisting of comic actor/writer
Angus Deayton, musician Philip Pope and performer Michael Fenton Stevens,
all more well known at the time for their work on radio show Radio Active.
The band's biggest success came from the hit Meaningless Songs In Very High
Voices, an obvious parody of The Bee Gees, for which the band members
adopted pseudonyms such as 'Gary Bibb'.
Two albums followed, 439 Golden Greats - Never Mind The Original's Here's
The Hee Bee Gee Bees and The Hee Bee Gee Bees Present - 20 Big No. 2's,
consisting of songs 'by' "Jack Michaelson", "Larry Pilsson", "Sexist
Midnight Runners" and others. Several singles were also released, but none
had the success of the first. Many of these songs were also used on either
Radio Active or its later TV spin-off KY TV.
