I'm sure Phil Wood was on seperate to James, as for some reason I had
never ever listened to Piccadilly Radio until one day at school
someone said that the Phil Wood show is good, and I listened for a
couple of weeks and then James H appeared and I remember thinking
that he was rubbish compared to Phil Wood (well my mind was confused
as I was barely 13).... then the same person that introduced me to
Piccadilly, wrote in a letter and it got read out, and I was so
jealous and so I wrote in my own letter... something like "Stop
playing Status Quo or I will write ten more letters". Oh dear, if
only!!!!!

The shocking thing is that if I'm over 30 now, how old does that make
James ????

It is actually: James H Reeve, The Pocket Emissions - Volume 1
(although I am not aware of any further volumes!)
It says on the back: All material by James H. Reeve (c) 1989.
Compiled and edited by Pete Baker at Sound Ideas, 79 The Piazza,
Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4AJ.
COMING SOON: "The Pocket Emissions Vol. II, Another Spurt".
I presume this Vol II never actually existed... or did it??????
The inside cover says: Sound Ideas is proud to present 90 minutes of
monologues from James H. Reeve taken from airchecks of KEY 103 FM.
Listen as he relentlessly tears apart the fabric of our society,
knits a jumper with it, then discoveres that it doesn't fit.
The contents of Vol 1 are as follows:
Side A
1. Journey into Hell
2. The News vendor
3. Foor Processing/Mindless TV
4. The Unwelcome Guest
5. The Great Airconditioning Breakdown
6. The KEY 103 Tea Machine

Underneath all that it says... C90 LowNoiseCassette Dolby B Very Mono
very mono????
I was very upset to find that there was no mention of me whatsoever
on the tape! Although I was pleased to note that the advert for the
cassette that appeared on Jim's and other presenters' programmes
actually had a clip from one of my appearances (despite it not being
on the cassette) - when he said "You cheap get" followed by a ripping
sound as he ripped up the card - I had sent him a birthday card - or
should I say a christmas card with merry xmas crossed out!
Another bizarre thing is that jim thought I had been tipped off as I
sent in a letter pretending to advertise a brand new cassette - and
it was actually something I had made up yet it did sound remarkably
as if I had been tipped off, but it was just a pure fluke.
I did actually make my own tape that I sent to James as a leaving
present in late 1989 or whenever it was that he left the late night
slot... and I still have a copy of the tape... I called it: THE
NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS - A MUSICAL TRIBUTE.
On it there are the following gems:
Side A
BILL MEDLEY - I'm Gonna Be Strong
ROBERT PALMER - Change His Ways (7")
FRAZIER CHORUS - Dream Kitchen
GENESIS - Invisible Touch
SUGARCUBES - Birthday
PIXIES - Here Comes Your Man
GEORGE VAN DEUSON - The Yodelling Working Man
STATUS QUO - Burning Bridges
KIRSTY MACCALL - Free World
Side B
ROGER WHITTAKER - Mexican Whistler
FRAZIER CHORIS - Sloppy Heart
TANITA TIKARAM - Good Tradition
ROBERT PALMER - Change His Ways (Wed 9pm)
EDDY GRANT - Give Me Hope Jo'Anna
STATUS QUO - Aint Complaining
REM - Stand
"SOMETHING FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR"
"THE ENTERTAINER"
Most of the record have a special meaning on the show and some were
ones that myself and others used to always request... how many can
you explain?!!
