Nice to read all these replies - I grew up in Lancashire and was
always a radio listener, but I was always amazed at some the content
of local radio in general. Coming from a council estate, I always
found the scenario of men with broad lancashire accents wittering on
about dibbers and such absolutely bizzare, so it had surreal comedy
value for me. Types that would pop up on Radio Lncashire, GMR, Red
Rose, Merseyside etc - old folk singers, historians etc, it seemed
like a different world. I know JHR was only too aware of this -
sending the whole thing up.
Maybe you lot can clear something up here - I'm sure I read somewhere
a few months back that there will soon be lots of small community
radio licences being issued (two per area I think it said) I assume
this is digital radio. This could finally be a chance for Reeve to
get his own station! Mind you, he'd have to go some to get the sack
if he was the DG, but I'm sure with a bit of effort he could still
pull it off...
I never mailed or called JHR (chickenshit!) even though I did used to
write daft comdedy stuff. There's many a guy out there who admits
that nothing he has wrote or said since was as funny as the schoolboy
stuff he did at 15 or 16 - I think there's something in that! When
Vic and Bob first hit the screen, the number of people who told me "I
used to that kind of stuff" was, well, quite a few.
I notice one of the members' ID names is Wanklord 2002. Is this a new
AM station?
