Hello everyone in my address book,

I'm doing the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride (on a tandem with my Dad
:)) on th 8th of July this year

sponsor me to raise money for a Manchester based group called WAST (Women
Asylum Seekers Together) who are really strapped for cash at the moment..

WAST describe themselves in the following way:


"WAST is a Greater Manchester based self help group of asylum seeking
women from different nationalities whose asylum cases have come to an end
of the legal process and who are facing deportation. We call ourselves
Women Asylum Seekers Together or WAST. As well as offering mutual support,
both practical as well as emotional, our main aim is to help each other in
setting up and running anti deportation campaigns.

At present we need money for our core costs i.e. office rent, crèche (to
enable women with smaller children to attend WAST meetings at least once a
week in a child friendly environment), travel costs for WAST core group
members to attend WAST meetings on Fridays and manage WAST office on other
weekdays and to provide basic food during the Friday meetings".

WAST don't have their own website but you can find info about them on the
National Coalition of Anti Deportation Campaigns website

It would be great if you could sponsor me for the bike ride. Any amount
would be really appreciated and as you can see from the above description
would make a real difference to the women involved in WAST.
