Kaffequeeria Film Festival Details for Distro & Mick Fuzz ?   Message List

Re: [kaffequeeria] Kaffequeeria Film Festival Details for Distro & Mick Fuzz ?

Cheers Gareth !

The LGBT Library I am running @ 42nd Street has the original BBC Dramatisation on DVD, BUT it's over 3 hours long and although very well-acted and intense, has such religious-zealot-christian-facist overtones and ends so abruptly with little hope in sight (unsure how close this is to the book), I don't know whether Kaffequeeria Peeps would be up for it ? ?

I can burn you a copy if you can give us a blank DVD, see what you make of it ?

As far as feature films go, I thought "Mysterious Skin" by Greg Araki (also based on a novel), was rather queer and intense and counter-cultural from 2005, or "Hedwig & The Angry Inch" (some people STILL haven't seen it, god forbid !), or "Bad Education" by Almodovar, or "My Summer of Love" from 2005, all on DVD ? ?

We could have big discussion about it @ next meeting, I'm very excited about seeing what shorts queer filmmakers come up with !

Cheers,

ToMb()Y

For feature film suggestions, I've heard good things about 'Oranges are not
the Only Fruit'. I'm attending a reading of the original book on Wednesday
so may be able to have more to say when the date arrives.
