the
email list for updates (http://lists.riseup.net/www/info/lostnfound)
For specific queries and details, please email the following
LostNFound Email Address (tried to set up our own, but
stuck with corporate hoover of hotmail, kinda subversion !)
lostnfoundmcr@...
Lost and Found Social Centre will be a free space for people that feel
lost in this capitalist, hierarchical, oppressive society in which we
live. To find others that feel the same and to create a positive space,
free from discrimination, where we can socialise, express our
creativity,
learn from each other and share ideas and experiences.
We will find a lost and derelict building and turn it into a hub of
creativity and activity for 16 days: from 11th October to 27th October
(From 11th to 14th the space will also be used for the first Manchester
Temporary
Autonomous Arts
Exhibition)
We want to find:
artists, musicians, performers, filmmakers, plumbers, electricians,
vegan
chefs, washer up-ers, people to slepp over, flyerers, decorators, skill
sharers, entertainers...and people to come to hang out and help
out..get
in touch if you want to be involved.
The timetable is constantly being updated. You can find out what's on
here: http://www.lostnfound.org.uk/timetable.htm
Groups and individuals are welcome to put on workshops and events. A
group
is welcome to charge door entry donation fee and keep the money for
their
campaign, yet we ask that no personal money is made- we are all working
on
this project for free, it's a free space, though asking for small
donations towards costs (such as costs of materials) is fine. If you
would
like to put on an event please
let us know what it is and when you'd
like
to do it.
Drugs policy
We ask people to respect themselves and those around them and to look
after themselves and others. If the lost and found collective feel that
someone is not respecting themselves and others they may be asked to
leave
the space.
There will be no drink or drugs in the space during the day (before
7pm)
Dogs
Dog owners must be responsible for their dogs and kept on a lead when
indoors to ensure responsibility, health and safety etc.
A Free Shop will be running every day, please bring stuff you dont want
any more (niceish stuff that others might want tho- not scabby old
knickers!!!) but stuff like mix tapes, clothes, plants, CDs etc etc.

re: handbook i think inclusion of examples of events we have done and emphasis on us being inclusive of queer , transgender, bi-sexual would be good. I guess this is probably implicit to what you said but thought would good to clarify

hey,
i reckon we'd need something that says:
who we are
what we do
why we do it
how people can get involved and how much we want them to
do people think that would cover everything?
if you feel unsure you can always post what you've written on here for
feedback, but am sure whatever you write will be grand.
thanks for taking it on!

hey tom,
this is the blurb we agreed on:
'from the studios, from the bedrooms; dressed down and dragged up...a
weekend packed with queer-themed classics, shorts and documentaries
from new and established film makers, as well as food, workshops and
discussions...'
will post the final version of the press release on here tomorrow.
maybe we could agree on a rough schedule for the fest at monday's meeting
to get the more specific details for your flyers, would that work? was
also going to go to marc on thurs 29th to copy more general kq flyers as
people's supplies seem to be running low and we have pennies in the kitty,
if people are okay with it we could copy film fest flyers there in pretty
colours too? would that be an okay deadline for your flyers tom?
let me know of all this sounds okay

I really need some clear details about what the final draft of the Queer Film Fest Poster, Press Release and Wording, to make the necessary funky flyers to spread far and wide in MancLand ?
What were the final list of feature films we were hoping to "debate & discuss" over the Queer Film Fest weekend, as these will surely draw people to the event and really need to be on the flyer ?
If I have all the details, I can can a stash of flyers together by next week to hand out to y'all !
I would be interested in contributing to the handbook but would like to know what people want to get across in the article first. I assume we're using the article as a vehicle to
promote Kaffequeeria and the things we're after?

Hello all! I have made some posters for the next Kaffequeeria and
have left 25 for individual collection behind the library/bookstore of
the Basement.
I spoke to Sherina (It could be spelt 'Cherina') who was there
yesterday, and she said she would be there pretty much everyday next
week, so it would be fine to leave them there. She also said she would
let Alex and other people involved know about it, and just to make
sure, I left a little note with my number in case there are any
problems.
If people would just like to come in and take 5 or 6 or however many
they want and just let me know that they've gotten some that would be
great.
P.S. Unfortunately, I cannot make the Night of Light tonight, so won't
be at Taurus, but I hope everybody has a good time flyer/postering.

Hello,
Went to the Basement this evening and put the cafes in for oct 15th and
dec 17th. I also put the womens cafes in until December. Told Alex what
I'd done (Morag wasn't there) and he thought it was fine as we can open
and lock up for ourselves.

Hi,
Thanks Marion!
I'm going to go to the Basement tomorrow evening - if I can find the new
diary I'll put the dates in it (cafes and get Bent) and mention to people
that we've done it, otherwise I'll stay for the logistics meeting and tell
people the dates then...

Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
minutes of meeting, may 11th
present heena, tom, lauren, gareth, cass, ros, marion, humey
NEXT MEETINGS - THURS MAY 25TH & MON JUNE 5TH AT 6PM - BASEMENT
BASEMENT
after the womens cafe we left a note at the basement and emailed them
because the space was a mess when we got there are we were annoyed that
we'd had to clean up other people's mess again. chinese whispers meant
that people thought we had been complaining about the basement itself. we
were worried that the message had been misconstrued so lauren spoke to
alex who had actually read the note to clear everything up. he was glad we
had left it as now he has 'evidence' that there is a problem with tidying
up as he wants to employ a cleaner for the space. anyone who was pissed
off about the note hadn't actually read it. so alls well that ends well.
FILM FEST
- call for submissions is being posted everywhere but there has been no
emailed interest so far...
- GARETH has started a beautiful poster for the event. CLARE will write a
small publicity blurb for the poster and post it on the list for approval
before the next meeting.
- TOM has spoken to mick re copyright, as we're mixing the films with
discussion and workshops we should be able to say that the screenings are
'educational' and so get around copyright issues.
- HUMEY will bring the list of suggested features to the next meeting so
we can make a final decision on which ones we want to show
- CASS will put a call for submissions on indymedia
QUEER PICNIC
- an informal gathering for over the summer
- pot luck - people bring food to share
- we decided on going to glossop for this
- it was suggested that we say this will happen on one of three weekends
and we will go on whichever one has good weather.
- publicity wise we'll just send an email to the mailing list a day or so
before the picnic. we decided it didn't really matter how many people came
as it would be an informal gathering rather than an official event
'TWEE PRIDE'
- CASS suggested having 'twee pride' as part of a mainstream pride action.
- people to wear twee outfits and have a critical mass and try and lead
people away from the parade to have cake in the park.
- will also be a good way to flyer for get bent
CAMPAIGNS
- there is a queers with no borders day of action in august. CASS
suggested getting involved with this and going to the london demo dressed
as 'queens without borders', queens who have lost their borders and are
confused about what has happened to their country etc.
TEA CAKES AND THEORY
- another suggestion for this was gender and language
- we agreed that it would be good to have a series of sessions,
fortnightly, so we can publicise them all on one flyer and have readings
downloadable from the website for all the sessions.
- MARION to call the lesbian and gay centre to find out which evenings are
free for this
OTHER BUSINESS
- HUMEY wants to take a bit less responsibility in kaffequeeria, namely in
meetings as she currently chairs and minutes them all.
- it was agreed that for future meetings we will agree someone to minute
and someone else to chair each meeting:
25/5 heena-chair, ros-minutes
5/6 tom-chair, lauren-minutes
FOR NEXT TIME
HUMEY to finish and copy the general kaffequeeria flyers
HEENA & GARETH to do june 11th kaffequeeria flyers
FEATURE FILM final selection
TEA CAKES AND THEORY final session ideas

Argh! I missed it didn't check my mail for a few days. Next time then.
When is it?
hey all,
was just thinking it'd be nice to have dates for kaffes up til the end of
the year on the general flyer so it can last longer. we're due kaffes in
oct and dec, how are these dates: oct 15th, dec 17th (2 weeks after the
women's cafe each month)
if there's any problems let me know by monday, otherwise i'll get them put
on the flyer. (the basement hasn't got a new diary yet but eleanor is
going to get one soon so we should be able to pounce with the dates as
soon as it arrives)
will also put the get bent! date as the first weekend of sept again unless
any problems.
thanks!

present: holly c, gareth, heena, orla, lauren, cass, holly, anja, humey
next 2 meetings:
thursday 11 may at the basement at 6
thursday 25 may at the basement at 6
film festival
- we all read through tom's call for submissions CASS will do final edits
on it this week
- we need to distro the final version far and wide as soon as possible
- we talked about having a 'watershed' at the festival so we can show more
racey things after that. this way we can still make the event all ages but
be clear about the watershed
- ANJA's friend has made a short film that she will get for us
- CASS will email filmonik with the call for submissions
- HUMEY to ask Lou & Yaz if they will do film related workshops
women's cafe
- HUMEY to collect keys from morag for the cafe
- ORLA, LAUREN & CASS all volunteered to make cakes
- HUMEY & HEENA volunteered to serve coffees on the day
tea, cakes and theory
- an old idea of cass and humey's where people can get together and have
informal discussions and teach ins about theory/politics/academic stuff
- we thought we could use the lesbian and gay centre
- ideas for sessions were: queer history of manchester, queer theories,
posy-colonial theory
- we also though they could be a bit like reading groups
- everyone is going to think of ideas for next time
flyers
- GARETH, HOLLY & HUMEY all said they would make flyers for the next
meeting, for the next kaffe and general kq flyers
funding
- we have an awards for all application to try and get money for get
bent!. LAUREN, ORLA & HUMEY will meet up separately to fill it in
www.kaffequeeria.org.uk
Looking forward to meeting you too Joe! I think the next meeting is on
Thursday 13th, so see you then (albeit, I myself will only be there briefly.
I'll be there on my half hour break)
