Hi Nic,
Hope we get a few more people joining...

Anyway, for the archives - there's one more meeting this month in
Lincoln on 25th November.

In December Sleaford will go ahead as normal on 2nd Dec.
BUT there won't be Lincoln meetings on 2nd and 4th Saturdays - the
only Lincoln meeting will be on 16th Dec! This is to avoid the
Christmas market and the scrum just before Christmas!

My name is Laurie and I've always wanted to learn to knit. I'm an
American from Ohio and learned about y'all from Denise. I want to knit
on a knifty knitter loom set my husband bought for me. Anybody knit
with this loom set? I have arthritis pretty bad sometimes and thought
it would be easier for me to learn to knit on a loom rather than with
needles. I've always wanted to join some sort of a sewing bee. Does
anybody knit for charity? I want to knit little preemie hats for NICUs
and some warm winter socks or an American missionairy I know in
Latvia. She wants warm winter socks, hats, gloves, and mittens for her
congregation there and calls the mission Operation Toasty Toes. :)

God bless y'all and your families too.

Nice to meet everybody,
Laurie

I've tried to get the messages to come to the group unmoderated so
hopefully you should all now be able to post straight to the group!
I've also banned attachments (to stop spam) so if you send anything
with an attachment to the list, it'll be removed. If you want to share
a photo or something similar then it should be possible to upload them
to the Files section on the group home page.

On knitting socks - Denise if you can make the next meeting (25th
Nov) someone will be able to help you. I may not be there as I'm
having a tonsillectomy tomorrow, but one of the others will be able to
help. I think, of the six of us who were at Knit Lincs last Saturday,
five of us knit socks! In the meantime the Knitting Help website has
helped me out on numerous occasions:
http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/advanced_techniques/

And did you know that the Needlecraft Centre on Clasketgate now has
sock yarn? Someone also told me on Saturday that the woman who runs
the woolly market stall has also started having sock yarn too...

Happy knitting,
Katie

I've received some information about courses & events next year
(unfortunately not in Lincolnshire, though!):

the first is feltmaking at Wingham Wool Work (they're based in
Yorkshire, but the courses are in the Lake District). I've never been
on one of these, but the menu list on the website looks well worth it
alone!
http://www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk/glaramara_courses.htm

Also, Wonderwool Wales, which is on in May next year.

Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that there's a meeting this Saturday in Lincoln
(2-4pm at the Drill Hall). I'm not sure if I'll make it as I'm still
on the mend after the tonsillectomy, but hopefully see you there!

Also, someone (Joy?) suggested that we have some kind of Christmas
get together after Christmas (ie when it's quieter and people aren't
so busy) so if anyone has any ideas?! It's been quite a while since
our last visit to Yarn at Beeston...

Happy knitting,
Katie

Hi Katie,
I've been thinking about you. How are you doing? How did the tonsillectomy
go?
Can't make this weekend because we're going to London to see Spamalot. My
pressie for dp for his birthday today. Just hoping that I will find it half
as entertaining as he will no doubt find it!! Still lots of knitting time in
the car on Saturday ;)
I AM coming to Lincoln for the one on the 14th!!

Sorry about the very late notice, but I'm meeting up with Claire
tomorrow (Tuesday 28th) at the Drill Hall at 10.30am for a coffee and
to do some knitting. If anybody else is free then you're very welcome
to join us!

The next Knit Lincs meeting is this Saturday (Dec 2nd) in Sleaford,
2-4pm at the Hub Craft Centre.

Happy knitting,

Just thought I'd introduce myself and say 'hello' to everyone. As
Katie says in the previous message, we're having a mini Knit Lincs
tomorrow morning. It would be lovely to meet anyone else too!

I'm a very keen knitter but haven't managed to make any 'proper'
meetings yet. I have four small children, so weekends are a bit hectic
and I can only rarely find a babysitter.

I used to knit a lot many years ago but started again in earnest about
18 months ago. I haven't looked back since! I'm currently making
Christmas presents and a baby jacket. I'm also itching to cast on for
this project:

Hope to meet some of you soon.

I'll be at the Drill Hall next week. Well as long as there is no illness or
disaster in the meantime with little people.
We were supposed to be going to the Christmas market this weekend but I
think it might be a bit manic for Lucy. Maybe next year.
As for the Christmas knitting>Haha isn't not supposed to be finished until a
couple of hours before midnight on Christmas Eve is it?

Hmm, yes, I'm about to attempt to drive into Lincoln
through the Christmas market traffic. Wonder how long
it'll take?!

Does anyone have a copy of Simply Knitting issue 19
(September, so appeared in August) lying around? It's
got a pale green wrap cardi thing on the front cover.
I want to make the purple cardi thing in it (bought
the yarn when Needle n' Craft closed down) but I've
either put my copy in a very safe place or lent it to
someone! If I could borrow someone else's copy that
would be fab!

See you next week,
Katie

Katie has asked me to introduce myself which I will now do!

My name is Fiona -(cupboard cat is my cat Happy who lives in the

at the age of 41!! I am a wedding/event co-ordinator. Main hobbies
are embroidery which I have been doing for many years but this has

ironing, etc but just don't seem to find the time for any of them.

I shall be coming along to the meeting in January which I am very much

As far as I'm aware there are some places on Skip North available
(some people dropped out).
The information and booking stuff is on here:

and there's a Yahoo group for people going on it here:

There *may* be room in my car if anyone wants a lift but I can't
promise at the moment. It looks like there's several of us going from
Lincolnshire so there is quite a bit of potential for lift sharing!

Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that there's a Sleaford meeting tomorrow, 2-4pm at
the Hub. We're usually on the squishy sofas in the cafe area (not far
from the homemade cakes...).

I'm bringing along posters to put up at the Hub, the library and Oh
Sew Simple, but can anyone think of anywhere else we could put posters
up in Sleaford? Boyes won't let us!
If anyone wants a poster to put up in a local shop etc they can be
found here:
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/knitlincs/files/
Feel free to print out!

Happy knitting,
