I've spent the past three days washing my fleece in the bath - it came in
two pieces, and I've been soaking it in the bath, emptying the water out and
refilling it as instructed by a lovely lady at Woolfest. The first one is
fine, very slightly felted but useable, but the second one has felted quite
badly. :-((( I might just stick it into the washing machine to felt it
properly
and make a little rug or a cushion cover out of it.
If anyone else has washed fleece how did you do it successfully?

I've washed some of mine (it's quite a slow process) by filling the bowl first
with a small amount of detergent with the water as hot as I can get it straight
from the tap (Spring Clear washing up liquid, bit like Ecover), then gently
putting the fleece in and letting it sit for a bit. Then carefully taking the
fleece out, running more water (same temp. without detergent), letting it sit in
that to rinse, repeating the rinse until it's stopped looking all bubbly/looks
clean and then leaving outside to dry. I think someone told me it would felt if
the water was run onto it or if there was a dramatic change in the temperature
of the water.
Still, I think yours would make a fab Father Christmas beard!

I mentioned Ravelry to Lucie today and thought some others might be
interested too. Basically it's a knitting and crochet online
community, a really good way of storing details about your stash and
projects (and things you want to make) and see what others want to
make too! It's still in beta at the moment, but they're issuing
invites to people on the waiting list and only increasing the numbers
gradually to make sure everything works. So I think at the moment
they're issuing invites to people who joined the waiting list at the
end of May. I think I waited about five weeks for mine?
If you want to know more there are some screenshots etc on the Ravelry
website at:

What am I like? I was all set for coming to Lincoln today until I saw
Lucie's post last night!! I hope you all had a good time in Sleaford. I
still went to Lincoln and attempted to choose a wedding ring...only 4weeks
to go and soo much left to do.

It looks good. I am on the waiting list (i think). I filled it in a week or
so ago.

Hi, all,
I am a knitter and librarian from the U.S. (California) who will be in
Lincoln from late July 14th through Sunday, July 22d. My church
choir, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Berkeley) will be singing at
Lincoln Cathedral many of those days. Some of us (mainly altos) are
knitters and would love to meet up with some one. We can meet in the
middle of the day (11 a.m. to 4 p.m. most days) or later in the
evening after evensong (and maybe dinner). We are staying at the
Lincoln Hotel and won't have a car. We won't arrive early enough for
the Knit Lincs bi-monthly get together. I can be reached at the e-
mail above or through the front desk of the hotel on Saturday evening.
Peg
Someone was asking me on Saturday if there will be Monday meeting in
August. It should be on August 6th, but obviously it'll be school
holidays so people might not be able to make it. I've got to go to
Nottingham for a meeting so I can't be there.
So, do let people know if you can/can't make it to see if it's worth
having a meeting then!
Katie
To All:
Regarding the August Monday Meeting I think I will not be able to make
it either because of a trip to the Peak District. Bummer.
Also, on the July 28 meeting I will be there with COTTON YARN! So if
you put in an order with me please bring cash (I will email out your
invoice within the week). If you like what you got or you didn't get
in last time I'd like to do this again in late August so please just
ask me if your interested in getting any CHEAP GOOD 100% COTTON yarn
from the US. The link is:
http://www.elmore-pisgah.com
Also I have taken some photos at KnitLincs meetings and of my projects
and others and have them up on my flickr site. I also have up 1000
photos of my trip to Norway, Turkey, Greece, Italy and so on. The
Knitting realted photos are all in their own set and collection. You
can see all my stuff at the following link:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/serinekat
Finally, Kat and I are still doing our podcast 'The Continental: Your
Nomad Knitting Resource'. The good and the bad news of it is that it
has become so popular that I have to buy more bandwidth! So if you
have been missing it while I was away that is why... my .Mac account
shut down because of too many downloads of the podcast. So, I am
fishing out some money today to get it back up along with my blog. So
thank you if you are listening!

Hi Everyone,
We do have a discount code for use with Laughing Hens:
http://www.laughinghens.com
it's designed as a group discount - 10% off orders over £100 so if
anyone wants to get together and order something, let me know and I'll
let you have the discount code.
Katie

I've just had a phone call from a woman called Rina who would like
one-to-one knitting lessons. She sounds like she already knows the
basics (knit and purl stitches) and just needs some help following a
pattern but can't make it to group meetings on Saturdays. She also
doesn't have internet access so can't use knittinghelp.com etc.
She's happy to pay for lessons and lives in the uphill area of
Lincoln. Her phone no. is Lincoln 545151 if anyone can help her out.
Thanks,
Katie
Just to warn you that I might not make it to this Saturday's meeting.
I'm in London all week and getting there in time on Saturday depends
on the train connection at Newark. I've experienced a few delays
getting down here so I'm not holding my breath...
Katie
Dear All
This is just a quick note to say that the Knitted Garden is now on display in
the Long Gallery of the Hall. The Hall is open on Wednesday, Sunday and Bank
Holiday Mondays. For opening times etc please visit www.doddingtonhall.com
The new, and very successful, Farmshop is now open too from 9 am to 6 pm
Tuesday to Friday and 10 to 5 pm on a Sunday. At the moment it is closed on
Mondays but will be open on BH Mondays. So please visit, have a browse, spend a
bit of money, have a coffee to recover and enjoy.
www.doddingtonhall.com/farmshop will give you all the details - failing that
speak to Kat!!!!
I won't be with you at the meeting on Saturday as I have a wedding but I hope
you have a marvellous day.
Kind regards
Fi x

Hi girls, Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow 28th and so won't make
it to the meeting, am totally fed up about this but need to make money
for yarn!!!
So, is no-one going to the august monday meeting at the drill hall?
I'm just checking because I might actually be able to make it this time.
Is anyone going to Sleaford next Saturday? I was hoping to escape
wedding planning hell and come to Lincoln but I got dates mixed up
again so I thought I might manage to come to Sleaford instead but
wanted to make sure there would be people there.

I should be at Sleaford. I'm certainly planning to be there anyway.
Is there any chance that the weekday meetings in Lincoln could be another
day as I can't do Mondays (I already go to a knitting group on a Monday)
Lucie

I made it to the last 30 mins on Saturday (ha - thanks train connections!) and
there were a couple of people saying they would make it to the Monday meeting.
I'm going to Sleaford next Saturday, and a few others are! Oh, and I drove past
Sleaford this morning and the A17 roadworks on the Sleaford bypass have finished
- HOORAY!
Come and escape the wedding stuff and knit with us!!
