Thanks for the heads up about the new stall. I will be at the meeting
tonight with extra needles (although I don't have too much in the way of
spare yarn...) if people need them to learn with. Good luck with your
deadlines,

Thanks very much for that. Hopefully someone else will have some yarn people can play with.
I'm making decent progress on my tasks for the day, so hopefully I will be able to make it tonight (assuming I haven't just "jinxed" myself by saying that!).

Anoushka/Alison -
I brought a few skeins of the yarn I'm using for my next
(light-colored) project. I have tons of it (a small acrylic baby
yarn), so I'm sure I could let someone use a skein if needed. I will
also try to stop by John Lewis on my way over to see if there are any
odd balls of yarn on sale.

I hope last night's meeting was a good one. I was working until about 10pm and was very disappointed not to be able to make it.
Was everything set up ok at the Earl? I forgot to mention that the landlord said we were allowed to move the lamps around. I hope people got on ok with the low lighting.
Did we have any newcomers?
Are we still on for a meeting next Monday? I just thought I'd check as it is Easter Monday.
Thanks to Alison and Cheryl for going equipped with spares.

We had one new person, but much lower turnout that the first night,
which we think is to be expected. There were 6 of us in total. They
had turned up the lighting, so it was much easier.
I can't make it next Monday as we're going on holiday for the week.
I'm sure about others.
Sorry you had to work so late!!

I couldn’t make it last night
because we had opera tickets, but am definitely intending to come next Monday.
I reckon a slight drop in turn out is understandable and hopefully people can
just drop in and out (so long as they don’t drop stitches!) as schedules
allow.
Meantime, the Grove magazine would
definitely like me to write a piece about ‘knitting hill’… it
would be great if any/all of you could email me any knitting anecdotes or
wotnot. My editor has asked me to give the piece a slightly evil/ironic twist
which I think sounds rather fun.
It would be great to hear some stories and
maybe some reactions to attending the group/knitting in public… in a pub…
etc.
Best,
Helen

When I looked at knitchicks.com (where I originally found the posting
for the group), I didn't see a subsequent posting advising that it
would be meeting every Monday. Perhaps it is worth posting that?
The post could also direct people to this group.
Just a thought.
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,
I sent an email to Pauline on the knitchicks.com website attaching an
updated message, but it has obviously not found it's way onto the
site yet. I will chase. Thanks for letting me know!
Kind regards

No sure yet, might have dinner plans for the night. But if I am free I'll
stop by, and if I'm not there this week I'll be there next. Hope everyone
has a good weekend!

Hi Anoushka,
Unfortunately I am traveling for work! So I won't be
able to make it Easter Monday.
I plan to come to the Monday after however.

Hello
I've started a blog (knitting related, of course). It's very boring
at the moment, (a) because I haven't uploaded any photos (though I'll

I'm having to concentrate on how this whole blog thing works!

Thanks for the invite, I am a novice knitter with alot of
enthusiasm! I am an illustrator and a flight attendant so I will be

was in London. My web site is www.monicaleestudios.com I just posted
a picutre of me in London on my journal page-what a tourist!
Hi Cheryl,
I'm certainly coming along (assuming something awful does not happen
at work) tonight, and I've had a couple of emails, so I expect there
will be others too.
Thanks for thinking to bring the extra yarn. I have got some spare
needles, so we're well-equipped for newbies (of which there may be a
couple in the next week or so).
See you tonight!

Hi
I've just found the link to the group and will add it to my list of
places to visit asap! I've heard that there is now a shop selling yarn
in Chepstow Road - if so any comments? Is it worth making the trip up
from Kent for at the weekend?
I have a load of odd balls of yarn to re-home and will be happy to
donate some for teaching beginners with if someone would like to give
me an address to send it to. They are nothing very grand but will save
some expense until people know if they'll enjoy knitting
Yvonne
Hi Yvonne,
Glad you found us! If you're in the Notting Hill area, you must drop
in on our Monday night meetings.
I have just stumbled (online) on the place on Chepstow Road you
mentioned. I have no idea whether it exists/is any good, etc, but I
will definitely check it out and let you know what it is like.
Thank you for your kind offer of yarn. We're probably managing ok,
actually. I know I have odds and ends to supply beginners with.
Anyway, I hope you we get to meet you at some point. If you are in
London on a Monday evening, drop me an email at
spittingyarn@... and I'll help you find us!

New knitter here!
A friend of mine introduced me to knitting and she has a local group
of people she meets up with (unfortunately she lives in Leeds).
However after scanning the internet I came across you guys so I
thought I'd join and say hello.
Notting Hill is only a couple of tube stops away so really easy for
me to get to, so hopefully when I buld the courage up I'll come join
you.
Vicky
No need to build up the courage. We're a friendly and new group
and are happy to work with beginners. We usually have extra
needles and yarn around so join us when you can. See you soon!

Yes, it’s true Vicky. Although we
are all armed with sharp instruments, we haven’t savaged anybody yet. Perhaps
we are saving our wrath for when a neighbouring pub starts up a crochet circle….
Really, the whole thing is very cosy,
social and accessible. It’s a great, friendly way to learn to knit.
Look forward to meeting you later,

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't make it last night. My boyfriend
started his new job today and I wanted to be at home to celebrate
with him/make him dinner, etc.
Irritatingly, work has blocked cookies which means I can't log into
Yahoo (and numerous other things), otherwise I would have mentioned
it earlier.
How was it?
Hello all,
I wonder whether you would consider doing a favour for someone. Kate
founded the Westender Stitch 'n Bitch which runs in Ealing on
Sundays. She has been speaking with various adult education centres
in the area about running a course of knitting lessons.
Westminster Ad. Ed. has got back to Kate and has offered a slot on
Saturdays. Now, whether knitting classes interest you or not, would
you consider giving her your views on whether Saturdays would be a
good day to run the course? If you are interested in knitting
classes, could/would you attend on Saturdays? If you're not
interested, perhaps you would answer the question from a hypothetical
standpoint.
It will help help decide whether to hold out for a different day.
Her email address is kate@....

Does anyone have a pattern for a toddler hat that they could bring next

the finished product should be. See you Monday!
