felting, making and revamping furniture and accessories for the home,
garden crafts, recycling and craft projects for children.

how to knit basics, knitty gritty & tips for the needle novice. Well
worth a look. Please pass it on!
Hi I am the writer that came along to the group on Monday. I'd love to
mention it in my Metro 'social club' column next Monday but don't know
the name of the lovely Scandinavian knitter living in Crouch End who
gave me lots of good advice and encouragement. If she'd like to let me
know her name that would be lovely. If not I quite understand. Take
care and thx for making me feel so welcome, Jennifer
Hey Jacqueline,
The group is still going strong down at the pub every monday
night! Hope to see you guys there sometime.

I've been having great difficulty getting away from work on time to attend Knitting Hill off late, but I'm planning on being there more often from September onwards, starting from Mon 4th.
Hope to see some of you there!

Do any of you know someone, or do any of you have experience yourselves of knitting some samples on a knitting machine? I am working with a designer who would like to get some designs realised by an experienced knitting machine knitter. many thanks, jenilandor@...

Hi all, I used to knit all the time but have not picked up needles for many years. Would love to join a group; is there room here for an almost newbie? Also,
will the group be meeting on Easter Monday?
I have been absent for awhile, and I think people disappeared over the summer, so can we reconvene now that it's September? I'm planning on being there next Monday, so I hope to see everyone then.
I also thought it might be good to organize a yarn swap at some point. I'd be happy to host if people are interested.

So we meet regularly every Monday night at the Earl of Londsale.
People start showing up around 7:30ish. It's really open so feel to
just drop on by if your in the area!
I've just come across this
forum but most of the entries seems out of
date. I can see there are a few keen knitters but no confimation as to
whether the notting Hill group is still going. If not, does anyone want
to start another one?I feel so alone in my craft!!!

Hello peeps
I was just wondering if you still meet in the pub in Mondays?
I know i could just pop along and stick my head in but I am a nervous
pub person.
Its just that it is quiet on here, so im not sure if people still go.
I hope you can understand what im trying to say.
Hi Everyone,
I have a Yahoo group for the poor and unfortunate in Egypt, like the
people mainly children living in the city of the dead (people living
in graves). If you have any items you would like to send, like the
crafts you make, please visit the group and contact me.
I hope to hear from you take care

About a year ago I took some beginner classes with Linda at Peter Jones in Sloane Square. It really helped and gave me the confidence to start projects and show up to knittinghill with something to work on.
There are also some very talented ladies at the pub that may be able to help. I haven't been to the pub in ages but am hoping to get back soon!
Good luck with your lessons :-)

Hi Tatiana,
I’ve just started going to Peter Jones in Sloan Square. They have free knitting classes from 11-12 but call so that you can book a space. They are very friendly, and very patient. I know also John Lewis on Oxford street holds the same classes, but can’t say how the teachers are. Good luck,
Lora

Hello,
It is really difficult to find anything related to knitting in London, and I was very glad to find your group at Yahoo.
The reason why I am writing to you is, I need some help. I have a urge to start knitting, but I don't know how... Is there anyone out there that could give me some lessons? Just the basics, really, so I could start with a scarf for my boyfriend for Christmas. I am living in Kensal Rise, London, not far from the pub
Thanks for your help,
Tatiana

Ah there is life on here.
I am a self taught knitter. I tend to make it up as i go along. If you
are happy for me to teach you I am happy to teach you.
Do you have your wool and needles?

Well, a one way yarn swap anyway. I'm getting ready to move and have
uncovered some yarn that I'll never use, as well as some pattern
books. I'll bring to the group Monday in case anyone is interested.
Free to first person to claim.
See you tomorrow.
Cheryl
Hi there,
I heard about you on Vanessa's show ages ago, but have only just got
round to checking you out. I've just started knitting - have done
about 6 rows - but need some help!! Working from a book is not easy,
so a lesson over a G&T sounds like just the thing I need. I've got a
10 month old baby so getting out is sometimes tricky (lots of
negotiations with the other half required), but would love to come
along. What's the drill?

Hi There,
read a post on the castoff messageboard about this group, and I am a
bit of a closet knitter in that I have never been to a S+B in the 2
years I have been knitting (yes, probably call me a newbie) and was
wondering if you could answer a few questions.
Can anyone just pitch up?
Will they all make fun of me if my technique isn't particularly good
(lets just say that i'm self-taught but i seem to knit at a speed that
seems ok, can follow patterns)?
Will I be the youngest one there (age 19)?
Is everyone really posh as it's in Notting hill?
Will everyone think I am really lame if I am knitting the same item
for more than one session (in that I rarely find the motivation to set
a specific time to knit, and I'm sort of wanting to join a S+B to get
into the habit of knitting regularly)?
