Imperial

What a good game this was. I really enjoyed the emphasis on having an
interest in a nation's status irrespective of their military position. I
like the decisions you have to make ie choices on the rondel, do you go
for more control of a nation, increase shares in others or damage the
value of other nations status, do you tax to increase the status or get
the war machine going - costly but necessary to increase a nation's
influence and therefore status.

I know only one game has been played, but i suspect a different stance
to be taken by players. Having a good spread of influence with nations
without this being too thin or too specialised, whilst ensuring that you
heavily invest in those nations likely to score high at the end will be
the name of the game. Checking the status multilpiers and tax will be
more in players' minds i guess.

I guess war may be more likely in some parts of the game as players seek
to increase the potential for tax, followed by the tax round and the
increase in status - followed by a rush for investment. We shall see.

Neil has made some good points about "Imperial". There are a lot of different stategies to be used in this game. An example was Allan controlling his Germany...

Well, I still have this fear that any SECOND game of Imperial will swing the opposite way from our exciting first game, and involve very little war, just...

Bob, I can understand your eagerness to 'get under the bonnet & fiddle about with the innards' but I think that ANY game (not just Imperial) deserves about...

Hmmm, i think this game is good enough to merit continued play under standard rules several times at least and arguably indefinitely without tinkering. With...
