I'm amazed Neil didn't immediately command you to buy Twilight
Imperium (3rd edition, apparently)!! I've never played it, but we
came darn close to setting a whole Sunday aside for 6 or 7 to play it
for 8 hours ... it's a mega-game apparently. Kind of at-one-end-of-a-
spectrum. Sort of see-Twilight-Imperium-before-you-die.
Now, I'm not certain that I or any of us will LIKE it, (though many
love it), but we gotta try it if we call ourselves a games club!
Neil was the member who most wanted to try it. Only one of "us" had
it - Greg - and he cancelled at the last minute and has never been to
the club. So I think none of us have it.
Which is a consideration, since you can play most games any of us
would recommend just by ..... asking him/her to bring it along!
But it's mega (DK the price), and you may only ever play it once...
Your call.
Second: Arkham Horror (or so). I heard good things about it (skill
and fun, rather than skill and accountancy, shudder). I don't THINK
any of us have it?
Third, a lateral idea: George is buying new 2-player "Combat
Commander" which he says I'll love. You buy a copy as well! Not as
stupid as it sounds. My most enjoyable experience of "War Of The
Ring" was when Dave was about to bring his copy of this new 2-player
game along, but we were going to be 4 players that day .... so I went
out and bought a second copy! So we played, 4 of us, two games of
two players, side by side, comparing progress as we went along. I
found it a lot more, er, social, than just 2 players, or 4 players
playing 2 different games for 2. So, no need to buy War of the Ring
(we have 2 among the regulars), but maybe Combat Commander, for 2
games of it side by side?
Or something completely different, your call.
