Another brilliant session! 10 of us to start with, (including new
member Attila, a vet from Essex, and previously from Hungary, with a
very sharp mind.)
So we broke the ice with all 10 of us playing Saboteurs. Attila
won. Beginners' luck? Then Felix got his way and played Containers
a second time. He won a second time, helped to 100% record by
Andrew, Dave and Josep. Meanwhile, Allan, George, Neil, Attila and I
tried out "Origins" from Allan's haul from Essen. We found it ...
ambitious and complex, perhaps not sufficiently playtested or
streamlined ... We stopped after a while, with Attila and George
being most in contention for a win about 6 hours later... Attila
then bought it from Allan (£15 if you're interested).
We 5 then played "Condottiere". Brilliant! (First time playing it
for me). Allan came very close until we all pointed out that he'd
misconstrued a rule, so he didn't win. While he was feeling grumpy,
I almost won myself. But not quite. Then Allan came back into it,
contested the climax with Attila, and finally won anyway (Allan).
Great game, IMHO, lasting about an hour. What did you other players
think of it? (And thanks to George for bringing and tabling it). I
want to buy a copy, if I ever get round to it.
Then (the others were still going slowly at "Container"), we finished
off with Super-Umbongo-Extra or so. Attila kept winning. Until
Felix joined us and took over the winning bit. Which cracked
Attila's poise for a while; so Allan came back with a victory or
two. I myself ... was also playing...:-)
Cheers,
Bob
