He writes:
"I have lived in Brightlingsea all my life. I used to go swimming there when
I was young - this was when it was a salt-water pool - we had swimming
lessons with the school, although I had learnt to swim already. The pool was
modernised in the early 1970s and is now fresh water - but unheated.
I was never one for sports and when I left school, that was the end of me
doing sport. Some 25 years ago I got into jogging and since 1989 have had a
Season Ticket for our swimming pool. I am not a great swimmer but it's a
nice change in the summer from jogging. I am hoping for a good summer to
make a profit on my season ticket. I am currently involved in a range of
community organisations, eg Colchester Trades Union Council, since I left
work three years ago."
