To the best of my knowledge, nobody has reported the
purification of a phytosterol fraction devoided of
cholesterol. The plant sterols are chemically too
close to cholesterol to imagine a simple purification
step removing cholesterol.
Several papers report the GC determination of
phytosterols in the presence of cholesterol
(frequently used as an internal standard) and you must
adapt your chromatographic conditions to improve the
separation of CHOL from the other components.
