Yeah I think they are allowed in riding club horse too. I used to
have a mare that HAD to have one and we did a few classes - what they
were totally escapes me now!!

As we don't differentiate that much with our model horse ridden
classes I will just presume those with martingales would be in a real
horse class that permits them!

If anyone takes up Keren's suggestion of a performance only show then
we could really differentiate between classes...


I now have a show cob that I get to ride and am getting into ridden
cob now!

I think the idea is that "show horses" (and ponies) should be as near perfection as possible, so that if they need to wear a martingale, boots, etc., then...

Go Marion! Generally, badly brought-on horses are taught to resist bad riders; well brought on and schoolded horses don't need gadget such as martingales!...

I agree some hroses are made ewe-necked by bad riding, but I am sure some poor creatures are born that way; in which case good riding might help, but won't...

It may not be "fair" or "PC", but disabled riders are usually confined to their own classes - I can't recall at this moment ever seeing any in 'real horse'...
