Before the list imploads with either laughter or depression, a
snippet of information from my beloved Kensington Gardens (home of
numerous Coots) for those with an interest.
The recent Med Gull - colour-ringed green on left AAZS (metal on
right, unread) - is from from Pionierinsel on the Elbe Estuary,
Germany, some 702 kilometers NE of central London.
Pionierinsel has a huge colony of Common Gulls (4,000 pairs this
year) and Med Gulls breed successful within the colony. It was one
pair in 1982, 35 in 2002 approx 140 in this summer. It assumedly
arrived with Common Gulls.
Cheers to Fiona Barclay for deciphering the ring lettering with the
aid of her 'serious' camera.
