Hi there :-)
>>oh joy, a whole long fic about the checkmate boys! It is certainly
one of my favourite universes. As always, I marvel at your ability
to write them so much like them selves, and still just slightly
different than from the books. It really was a brilliant story.>>
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it :-)
>>I enjoyed Hermione's appearance, she was her bookish self, but as
the boys don't know her very well they can't see the good sides only
the nagging know it all ones.<<
They don't have the same history with her, especially as they were
all three in different houses at school. Harry's knowledge of her
is very sketchy indeed; I suspect he knows of her peripherally as a
prefect, but his contact with her would have been very slight
(perhaps in Herbology classes) and as he didn't get into much
trouble at school, he wouldn't have any other reason to encounter
her. Ron, on the other hand, knows her almost entirely as a prefect
because he did get into a lot of trouble. But as he indicated to
Harry, there's more to it than that - even if Hermione's not willing
to admit it. Plus, he's a Slytherin. I suspect he tried to make
use of her attraction to him at some point and it didn't end well!
>>I liked the discussions about covents and how they ought to be, it
seems appropriate that Harry is somewhat a traditionalist, being
Hufflepuff and all. I enjoy the pagan traits of this universe.<<
I've been doing a bit more research into paganism and Wicca, but I'm
still making a lot of this up to suit myself and the needs of this
universe. (I say that because I don't want anyone to get the wrong
idea - the stuff I'm writing is NOT genuine Wicca practice and I
don't want anyone to think it is.)
>>It's such a different universe, but now one can see some
similarities. It was very interesting to glimpse parts of the world
outside Harry's and Ron's affairs; with all that Dumbledore and the
remnants of the Order are up to.<<
It's interesting how my original vague ideas of what James and the
others were doing have morphed into this - I certainly didn't intend
for there to be any Voldemorts in this universe when I started
writing it! Apparently one can't have Harry Potter without
Voldemort, though. Most irregular.
>>Those lay-lines aligning towards the arch can't be up to any
good.<<
It's looking that way, isn't it ;-)
>>Fancy that the ritual should cause a lightning-shaped wound… <<
*looks enigmatic*
>>Much looking forward to whatever happens next. <<
I need to give some serious thought to that now!
>>Accidentally, I spent too much time yesterday re-reading the
Coming Home stories; you work so well with Harry and Ron. Always
enjoying your writing.<<
Thanks! I'd like to take another look at that universe too, as it's
always nice to write that Harry and Ron.
Thank you for reading and reviewing :-)
