3 Tips for Better Wellness Program Surveys
Successful wellness programs meet the needs and interests of employees, so knowing those needs and interests is
important. Many companies accomplish this by asking workers to complete short surveys. When developing yours, keep these tips in mind:
1. Begin with a plain-spoken cover letter signed by the company
president that outlines the intended value of the wellness program and the reasons you're surveying employees. Add a sentence or two about confidentiality
and anonymity.
2. Ask closed-form questions, but include space for comments and
suggestions. Closed-form questions provide specific choices and are easy to tabulate, but it's also important to give
employees space to make recommendations or ask questions if they wish.
3. Ask a group of representative employees to review the
survey before distributing it. Get feedback on the questions, and make sure they will be understood by employees.
