Is your setlist signed? I was just about to nab
Garf's one, when some girl, who wanted Matthew Jay's but
just missed, grabbed it. I could've killed
her!(nearly) Anyway, I managed to get a hold of Matt Klose's
one from the Louisiana gig, coz I wanted Garf's
squiggle but couldn't find a pen anywhere. Eventually we
found one, and got his squiggle, but had to get the
others' aswell so as not to look suspicious, and the
lovely Garf introduced me to the others making me feel
like such a teeny-bopper. It was so embarrassing
running around looking for their signatures coz I just
looked like an obsessive girly, them all probably
thinking "Oh no, how did we land such fans?" I'm gonna
frame it sometime and hang it on my lovely new bedroom
wall to show off to all my friends who fancy Matthew
Jay(he wrote some silly ditty on it, trying to
personalise it, which I didn't really want but didn't want to
say so coz I was already interrupting
him).

Fantastic, great, just realised that this sounds like I'm
showing off, which is totally not my intention, I was
just so happy to be able to talk to pop-types for real
and meet Garf!

Also, has anyone been able to
figure out the chorus in Aurea? I just can't make out
some of the words. Unfortunately, Matthew Jay is a bit
of a mumbler with regards singing.

Is there anyone here who lives down south in Southampton? I was thinking of
going to uni there if it's any good, but not sure yet. What's it like there?

Hee! Don't worry about misunderstanding
m'dear-all water off Duck's back. I have no problem with
swearing-I've been known to drink from the potty myself on
occasion-but he is quite possibly the sweariest songwriter
I've come across. Anyone know any more?

Kate x

Ah well, all pop types are like that nowadays. In
my day had someone said the kind of things he was
saying they would have had their mouth washed out with
soap, or something along those lines. Anyway, surely
you didn't expect anything else, with the ninth word
on the album. Sorry for earlier misunderstanding.

Eh? That's what I meant. Anyway, Matthew seems like a lovely guy, but he's got a
mouth like a bloody toilet! As Q put it, does he kiss his granny with that
mouth?

Kate x

The two support bands were outrageous shite and
no mistake. I actually went downstairs to check I'd
come to the right place at one point. Stu- I was the
girl right down the front under Matthew's nose. I
don't think I saw you, but as long as you weren't the
lanky kid fronting Thoria...! I mean, could he have
wanted to be Thurston Moore any more?

Kate x

The Barfly gig last night was the best, first
time I've been to the Monarch! The two support bands
really didn't fit in. I think Matthew Jay and the band
were on for just over an hour.

Set List -

Oops...I think my message was misinterpreted. I
meant that I didn't fall in love with Matthew(him being
the obvious one to like...or something), that I
discovered someone else who's really lovely. Really wanted
to go to Leeds tomorrow night but I'm not allowed go
on my own and my brother(who I'm going to disown
soon) won't go with me.

Anyway, I've already got
the new single. When I went into the shop to buy it
it was being played over the instore radio, so I
stayed in the shop 'til it was over. So if it doesn't
get into the top 75, I can't be blamed. I'd doubt
they would drop the group, after all they are sending
Matthew and Sam over to the States to promote the album.
Wish I could go with them. Aren't the lads all really
friendly. I thought they were quite obliging and entirely
charming. Pity about Matthew being to busy talking to
friends to talk to the fans. Maybe next time.

Hope
everyone else has bought the single too!!!

TF

nowt wrong with being obvious! :-) London last
nite was ace. Any amusing anecdotes about the teenaged
Matthew Jay then?
On a slightly darker note, matthew
said last night that if the new single doesn't go top
75, he'll be dropped. don't know irf this is true or
not, but buy the single anyway!

kate xxxxsx

The night before last I fell in love, at the Louisiana. And not with the obvious
one. Also, hello to Mike, with the family from Cork and the friends in Bristol
Uni, I think.

For those that haven't seen them there are some
tour dates for a headline tour in June on both the

details of a new single due out around the same
time.

And to everyone going to the middlesbrough music

Only joking. I've got exams and stuff at the
moment, so there's no way I'd have had chance to get
around to setting this up for another month or so.

Aren't Matthew and his band fantastic? I saw him play at
Glastonbury last year, after hearing some of his mp3's on the
food site. I've been hooked ever since. I'm not really
a Divine Comedy fan, but once I knew he was
supporting, I was desperate to go to the gig at the QM in
Glasgow. Later that night we took his band out drinking -
I have some fantastic photos!

I hitched down
for the gig in Oxford too - and had a brilliant time.
When Matthew supported Lowgold at Tuts we went and
said Hi, and had a few drinks and stuff. We couldn't
go to the gig though, cos we'd got tickets for
Hefner - who I've waited years to see.

Ooooh,
and Matthew said my flatmate and I were the most
'indie' people he'd ever met. Not sure if that's a good
thing, though.

Victoria x

of great bands, Lowgold, Matthew Jay, Alfie, Sizer
Barker, Clearlake. Headlined by Space and Shed 7. There
is a website at
<a href=http://www.middlesbroughmusiclive.co.uk

infomation. It looks pretty
good!

favourite track off the album? thats difficult, it changes

I missed Matthew Jay on tour with Lowgold too,
don't get me started on that, the worst surprise party
that has ever been was on the same night for a mates
birthday. Total disaster!

I finally saw him on
Jools Holland tonight and was suitably impressed.
Looking forward to seeing him at the Middlesborough thing
too, which is looking pretty great. Alfie, Lowgold,
Clearlake and Matthew Jay. I hear Cooper Temple Clause are
meant to be pretty good too.

just got the plug from the embrace msg board, and
since matthew jay is one of the finest songwriters and
performers around, I thought it would be appropriate to
join!!! I'm afraid I missed him supporting Lowgold, as I
couldn't find anyone who wanted to go to the gig, in other
words, i left it too late to get tickets, and nobody
could be arsed running around 3 hours before the gig
started!! But I will be going to the Middlesborough
festival thing, which is for free!! Also including other
Favourites - Alfie and Lowgold, and look out for Belasco and
Big Sur. If anyone knows of any Matthew Jay fansines
or any unofficial site, let me know. Chris Burns -

What a good idea, a club for Matthew Jay..I'm
kate, I'm 19 and a student at the University of
Manchester. I've seen him live twice, once supporting
Starsailor and once with Lowgold, and i missed 'Later' but
will hopefully be able to see the repeat tonight.
what's everyone's favourite track off the album, for
want of a better topic? I like 'four minute rebellion'
myself.

kate xx
