Hi Phil, On the I4, you only have the one O2 sensor, and it would register a fault code.. this can be read using a 12V LED, or a normal LED with a 1K resistor...

Mazda were replacing calipers... but only in the US as far as I am aware... we got the rough end of the stick again.. There is a caliper on ebay for about £70...

As far as replacing the VAF goes... a second hand unit would be the best option... The V6 uses a VAF, but the I4 uses a MAF... only the VAF has a cone inside.....
