It is normal for the buildup on the dizzy cap, and this should scrape off easy enough.. either way, they should be easy to get hold of... Your local motorist...

Thanks, Have checked again, and I can feel a charge leaving the wires, two of them. They are the same ones which have the corrosion. Not a coincedence I think....

No idea on best place for fob, but check the type of alarm fitted, it may be Cobra or Laserline.. The programming sequence is something like leave the door...
