Thanks mate - i had a feeling it was the distributor. I have had the car three
years and i have replaced the ignition modual once and then about a year ago the
whole distributor :( but hey I am considering changing the engine to a KLZE as I
have been recommended a dealer Nippon Spares? Have you heard of them or know of
anyone else?

This is a possible cause of your problem. If it is the problem, you
can expect it to fail completely in a short while.

The bad news is that Mazda do not supply replacement transistors, so
you have to buy a complete distributor, which is very costly. The good
news is that it is not difficult for a competent electronics repairman
to replace the part. You may find a "rebuilding" service available.
