Thanks Ian. I feel a little easier about my madness now. Do you know
if there's a Haynes manual or similar for these? & what's the best
way to source spares, exhausts & brakes etc.

There is a Haynes manual; I think it also covers the MX-6 and maybe the 626 as well. It is better than nothing, but I used to have the real McCoy - the Mazda...
