Re: [Mazda MX3 Owners UK] Re: Some newbie questions   Message List

Thanks for all the info guy, it's much appreciated. Had the cambelt tensioner
replaced yesterday (£138 for the part!), and the guy re-seated all the mounts of
the engine in an attempt to resolve this 'juddering' problem I have (basically,
the car doesn't pull off smoothly - it judders. To get it to pull off smoothly I
have to dip the clutch and feather the throttle in first and second!). The car
still judders (the mechanic is going to have a word with some Mazda people), but
the 'ticking' during tick-over, and whistling are both gone!

As for bleeps etc: my '92 MX-3 bleeps if the lights are still on and when the
key is in the ignition, then add the immobiliser-bleep and it can get quite
noisy! I too have a 'low oil' light - haven't seen it in action yet though.

I'm assume any Mazda dealer could supply a parts list - I wouldn't be surprised
if they charged you for it though judging by my recent (and last) service by
one!

Cheers again.

Steve.

The oil light lamp is probably burnt out.

Because the key warning works, it sounds as if the door switch is ok,
which suggests it maybe a relay or logic unit at fault.
Unfortunately, the online manual at MX-3.com doesn't have the
electrical section. A friendly Mazda dealer might let you have a
look at his.

Hi Steve, Good to hear the tick & whistle are gone. Was the whistle a vacuum hose? Your judder sounds to me like an oil leak onto the clutch disk. You can...

Ian, You are a true gentleman, sir. I will try your suggestion this evening! Not sure about the whistling - it just hasn't happened since my mechanic re-seated...
