Re: new owner

Hi Jerry,

Welcome to the group. As far as I know, remote locking was not
standard on MX-3s, but was an aftermarket fit. The system fitted in
mine took a V23GA battery - it's about half the size of an AAA and
the same shape. But your's may be different. If you take the
controller into Halfords, they are used to opening them up and
identifying the right one.

The "Haynes" for MX-3 is actually a Chiltons, published in the US,
but available from amazon.com (or co.uk, but the US site is often
cheaper even with transatlantic shipping). Its No. 46802. It's not
the best of books, partially because it covers so many other Mazda
models, but it's better than nothing. Don't worry about the US
aspects, the differences are minor and obvious, like LHD, cruise
control and electric seat belts.

The Haynes no 61042 for the MX-6 is largely applicable, especially in
the engine department, as the K8 and KL engines are so similar, and
it's better in some respects.

Don't buy a Haynes or Chiltons from ebay before you've checked the
Amazon price - it may easily be less than the auction starting price!

I have built up a collection of MX-3 Mazda Workshop Manuals from
ebay, including the '93 N American version, but it's pretty similar,
so I can answer queries.

I believe the Mazda Workshop manuals for UK are out of print, and
they were wildly expensive; the set would have been about as much as
you paid for your car!

There is a wealth of expertise accessible at MX-3.com. Well worth
logging on there. Most of the members are from US and Canada, but
there also S America, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Estonia.......and a few
from UK.

Hope that helps - come back for anything specific.

Ian
