Hi Linda,

The most likely cause of your problem is an induction (or vacuum) leak
between the VAF (the thing that comes out of the air filter box)and the
throttle body. The most likely place for that is the large diameter
ribbed flexible air conduit between them. Some people patch it up with
tape, but a replacement is worth the money. I've got a brand new one
for sale (never used it and I've sold my MX-3), but it probably
wouldn't be worth the shipping cost to the US.

By the way, there is a site with a very good message board for MX-3s -
MX-3.com. Largely used by Americans and Canadians. But search first
before you ask your question, because nearly every possible question
has already been answered on the board; then if you can't find it,
say "I've already searched" to forestall the complaints that you didn't.

I just paid $66 USD for this part from my local (michigan, USA) mazda dealer. It is part number k80113220d here in the states. ... leak ... and the ... ...
