Hi there,
At the moment we've been in a bit of a down time as I've been tied up
with lots of other things.
I am hoping to get everybody together again over the summer, so
hopefully after this message people will come out of the woodwork and
tell me when they can and can't meet.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers

Haven't been on the group for a while!
I have an A3000 and a A500 (A500 no PSU)
The A3000 needs the lithium battery hack (should be fairly simple)
just got to get the parts
How much you selling the 1200 for?
hey there everybody,
has anybody got a working system with a squirel that I can plug an old
hard drive into to retrieve some data from. I have inherited the
system which now doesn't work and I have failed to integrate it into
my system as my power supply isn't beefy enough to power the amiga, a
hard drive, a cdrom, 2 floppy disks and then this SCSI drive.
Any help would be appreciated. If there is a system out there that
might be able to help I could book the venue and we could have a
meeting this month?
Cheers

hey there guys,
sorry to have neglected you all for a little while. Is anybody
interested in a Christmas MAG meeting? Christmas seems like ages away,
but I'm strapped for cash at the moment and I think that'd give me
enough time to put 20 quid to one side for a meal and a few drinks.
I've started a new job this month which has lots more possibilities
and prospects....plus more money (thank god!) so hopefully by
Christmas I'll be able to start the meetings up again.
I don't know if anybody has noticed, but the website has been down for
a while now as I have moved to sky broadband and they don't have any
webhosting options. I was wanting to write a new website anyway, so
its a good opportunity for that. Does anybody have any connections
with hosting people?
Anyway - look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Cheers

I could set up an account for you on the server I use for MindSpace.
Should be plenty of space/bandwidth for something similar to the
previous MAG site.

hey there,
I've been playing a lot recently with Facebook...it's just too
adictive! and to do that I set myself up with another hotmail account
to take all the spam. I noticed that part of the M$ experience is
called 'SPACES' which is similar to Facebook, but with less emphasis
on social networking and more on setting up profiles and stuff.
Anyway - for the moment I have set up:
http://midland-amiga-group.spaces.live.com/
Please feel free to have a look. I think I might need to add you as a
friend, but if you want to send me the email addresses you use for
IM/skype or such like we can get together. If you use windows live
messenger I can integrate that into the site too, so we can have
discussions and stuff stimulated by posts and activities on the site.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers
Luke (Niceguy1979)
I tried to access Spaces without being logged on and couldn't get onto
the site without it. So, I think that means that I need to add emails
of all my friends so you can all view the page.
Does anybody NOT want to be added to that friends list? Speak now
otherwise I will just copy all of the email addresses from here into
there.
Cheers

hey all,
I know it's been a long time of inactivity, but I'm a little more
financially secure and will probably been able to host another meeting
in Earlsdon Methodist Church hall this summer if people are interested?
I have also been working on the new website which looks a lot more
professional etc. I will secure hosting andsuch like over the next few
weeks. As soon as thats posted I'll stick a link on here so everybody
can have a quick look.
If anybody would like to contribute to it I would be more than willing
to accept contributions.
And lastly...I have updated the MAG merchandise cafepress shop as they
now print on black tshirts! follow this link (or copy and paste it) to
find out whats on offer.
http://www.cafepress.com/magmerchandise
Any small profits from the sales will go towards room hire and
refreshments.

Hi Luke
hope there is enough interest in this as we do need to keep the group
alive - there are still funds from the old set up so that would help pay
for room hire etc
I've got OS 4 up and running on my A1200 - not without problems I hasten
to add but was a beta tester for the latest update. I was well chuffed
to find that my Bvison card was not knackered after all !!
My Amiga One has not been neglected either and I've installed a SATA
hard drive in the last year.
Thanks to your help I've finally sussed out how to use the catweasel
mark IV for the PC but progress is very slow at converting Amiga
floppies to adf.
Amigakit.com must love me but at least i'm still contributing to the
community.
Be nice, if we have a meeting, to get a minimig up and running as that
is a fantastic bit of kit !
Cheers

Hi Luke,
I'd be very interested in a meeting (as would a couple of other
people) - I've always wanted to get to one but they've somehow
invariably been at a bad time for me!
By the way, if the venue were to be an issue, there's a chance that I
could sort out a room at Warwick uni.
Cheers
Alex
Hi Alex,
good news. Thanks for the offer for the venue. I don't think the old
venue will be a problem, but if the room costs too much we might just
take you up on your offer.
I have added a new poll to find out when people would be available for
a meeting. At the moment I am aiming for either the last week in June
or the first week in July as it is the easiest for me at the moment.
I am looking forward to putting the new website up at some point in
the next few weeks, so finding some time at the meeting to discuss how
to develop that would be great.
The meeting should be quite jam packed with activities that said.
We've all got to catch up and I know Ian has been a busy bunny over
the past few months, so that'll be fun to hear about.
Has anybody heard from Fuzion? or Glynn?
Luke
Great to hear from you. I've contacted Fuzion about the website and
things, but have had no reply. I too hope that there is enough interest
in the next meeting.
I've just approved a post from Alex Whitaker who was the Warwick Uni
student who never made it to the last meeting. His post in the group
suggested that he knew a few people who were interested so we might
have a full house for the next meeting with any luck!
It sounds good that your Amiga projects are working out well. I am
hoping that some of them will be portable enough for you to be
persuaded to bring them to the next meeting....
Thanks for voting on the poll by the way. I'm aiming for the last week
in June or the first week in July at the moment, but I am yet to
contact the church people to find out if thats possible.
I am really happy with the new website, but wanted to add a members
page with contact details etc. I'll have to pop over sometime soon and
show you so you can see if you agree/your info is correct.
Cheers

Just to throw my thoughts in the ring I’d be happy to look at alternative
venues. I know we have used the Earlsdon venue for a number of years however
parking is a pain and it’s not the most accessible venue either.

If you
think parking at Earlsdon is a pain, don’t even consider WarwickUniversity. My wife works there – and she sometimes has to park about
half a mile from the Arts Centre in Westwood Heath Road and walk back! Depends on the day of course – Saturday would
be OK at the Uni – but then it would be also at
Earlsdon.

Hi folks,
I'd also like to attend a meeting if I can, although transport is a
bit of an issue.
I'd especially like to chat with any OS4 users who've had a play with
my MindSpace drawing program.
And just to be awkward, I could offer another possible venue: the IT
suite of the school I work at in Stratford-upon-Avon. Free parking,
reasonable access etc

Stratford would not be a problem for me and presumably given
the facilities that would mean less equipment to lug about (monitors etc). If
we go for this venue I’m more than happy to offer lifts from those in the
Coventry area.
With regards to Mindspace I must admit I’ve not used it
but really should support your efforts particularly as you are working on an
OS4 version. I’m one of the lucky few to have an Amiga One and also have
a installed OS4 on my A1200.

I am just wondering what members details should be included in a kind
of profile at the new website. I have temporarily hosted the website
at http://www.home-angels.com
So far, I think that the following details should be included
interests
background
systems
contact options (Email, YIM,MSN,SKYPE etc)
Should I include the town you are from? or any other details?
If you have any suggestions let me know. If they are sensible
suggestions I will put it to a vote.

hey there,
I am still waiting for the flood gates to open and all the MAG members
to register. ;)
I've put the new MAG website up at http://come.to/mag and one of the
nice features is the ability to register your details. I am hoping to
use it as a way to contact everybody if any meeting details change,
like dates or time etc.

Is there any love for this game? I rememeber when the original Kick
Off came out...what a breath of fresh air! (I only had Kenny
Dalglish's soccer match before that! lol).
But Kick Off 2 and Player Manager was stunning games! ahhh, the
rivalries between this and Sensible Soccer eh?
If truth be told I gravitated over to SWOS because thats where the
newer updates were coming from, but last year I found out that people
still play Kick Off 2!
www.ko-gathering.com
They'v also ironed out some of the more stupid bugs, whilst still
keeping the classic playability. Not sure if its nostalgia, but
playing this with its fast pace and lush green pitch...I dunno, newer
games just leave me cold!
As I said, I only joined the forum last year but already I'v made a
load of friends. I'v even attended a few tournaments - mostly in
Birmingham and Reading area.
Would be great if some fans are here so we can talk about the classic
game. Its even possible to have a 2 player online, but local
tournaments round peoples houses are where the actions at. Pizza,
Booze and Excitement.
Dont hesitate to go on the site above...in Birmingham on 3rd to 4th
May, there's even a huge UK Championship where people from every year
of the UK will be converging to play.
hey there,
thanks for letting us know about that little sub culture. It's good to
see that some of these events happen in brum. MAG might have to attend
a few of these gatherings and see if anybody is interested in
attending ours.
I never actually played KO2, but was more into speedball and SWOS.
Perhaps we can get a tournament sorted out for one of our MAG
meetings? What do people think??
Luke
