RE: [milko] electric vehicle, ambulance

Hi
The speedometer on my electric truck broke so I replaced it with a bicycle
one, available at Halfords for under £10. It works great and I have done
over 5000 miles since fitting it.

[milko] electric vehicle, ambulance

Hi, new to the site, have been busy reading `Milko` messages.
I have recently acquired an electric ambulance vehicle and require
information and advice if possible.  I have never owned one before!
vehicle details...
HABILT Type no. 916  chassis no.L239
MOTOR electric power ENG.CO.LTD Birmingham, England
no.6712 D45 TYPE MB12.RPM3300 H.P.4 1/2  rating 1HR
CD volts 45 AMPS 9.5 winding series
BATTERIES 16 no. chloride Z 8 150 1106
SWITCH GEAR Harbilt electrics, Market Harborough. Leics type no.
916/6 serial no. 00136
CHARGER Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co.  type no.SV16/30 spec. no.
R20043G serial no. E1989
INPUT AMPS 10 volts 200 - 250
Does anyone know what power/RPM it would achieve at this voltage?
What speed will it achieve in its present form?
What could I expect at 48 volts?, there is space for an additional 8
cells.
Why would it have been converted in the first place?
What advantage would there have been?
Can the charger be altered to 48 volts?, present output is 38volts.
Would the switch gear handle 48 volts?
The vehicle does not have a speedometer
How can I fit one; do I need one to be road legal?
I believe the vehicle has been used on the road as it has an exempt
vehicle disc in the window on behalf of Area Health Authority.  I
inetend to use the vehicle to commute to work, only 2 miles each way
so distance is no problem be I would ideally like to achieve 35 to 40
mph.  I`ll try to get a photgraph of it online if anyone is
interested.

Hope you can help Dave

Hi The magnet is glued to the inside of the wheel rim with Araldite and the pickup is bolted to the brake drum hub so the magnet passes as near as possible. It...
