I wrote about this being found in my garage on the site last week.
I've just managed to put up some photos of this on the group site
and can send more.
I've had interest from someone in London who I sent pictures and who
says "This one is a very rare vehicle. Its more like a 1954 model,
than a '64 to be honest. The cab shape and rear deck roof is of that
era design. It does look as though someone has been taking parts off
in the past, the front Rev-Off-Fwd key locator and the round charging
socket are missing from the front. There is also some parts missing
from the front steering mechanism. All of this is repariable, once
the parts are located. The brakes are bound to be siezed with the
handbrake on for all this time, but they can be freed off and then
serviced.
I'll say again, this is a rare vehicel and must be saved, if not by
me, on eof the group must surely be interested.
It is a Wales & Edwards Standard SWB float, usually with 15 cells
fitted and a local range of around 8-12 miles (depending on the
terain and the load factor). "
I am happy to let it go to who ever can most practicaly restore it.
As mentioned above it is not able to free wheel at the moment so
getting it out of the garage will be a challenge!!
Someone who is local could come and work on it in situ as we aren't
desperate to use the garage (the float has been there since we bought
the house 9 years ago!). I only thought it was 1964 as my brother had
looked up the number several years ago. 1954 would fit with what I
know of the history of the house as that was when the vendor's family
bought the house and he was the one who ran deliveries of milk from
the garage.
