Hi all,
Sorry, me again. Following my concerns about the MoMoDublin vote, and
subsequent feedback from the group, I've been trying to make sense of it
all.
The interim result was:
- 3G Doctor, 6 votes, 4.51%
- Nubiq, 6 votes, 4.51%
- Sentry Wireless, 118 votes, 88.72%
- AdCafe, 3 votes, 2.26%
i.e. we had 133 votes in total. 109 of those votes were from people who
joined the poll after it was announced.
You, the group, suggested that I should discount those members' votes,
and choose the winner based on the choice of the 24 existing members.
Now I should say I feel a little awkward about that, since many of the
new members are clearly in mobile and in Dublin. Just because they
weren't members in January doesn't mean their opinion isn't valid
(Again, welcome guys!)
I also didn't like the unavoidable implication that somehow one of our
local contestants was trying to uniquely push the rules or cheat the
system. I actually think Sentry Wireless is a very reputable and
deserving consideration.
Anyway, the group spoke, so I ploughed through the maths. And the
adjusted result is as follows:
- 3G Doctor, 2 votes, 8.3%
- Nubiq, 6 votes, 25.0%
- Sentry Wireless, 13 votes, 54.2%
- AdCafe, 3 votes, 12.5%
Result: Sentry are still majority winners, with Nubiq a solid second.
Now, hopefully there is still enough time For Matt and his gang to get
plane tickets to Barcelona... Their name goes through to the second
batch of finalist announcements this week.
Congratulations to worthy winners and all participants alike.
And for all MoMoDubliners en route to Spain, I look forward to seeing
you there. (Drinks on me by way of relief at having resolved this :-) )
Best regards
James
