Thanks for the update Rotan – sorry I didn’t get to meet everyone, including
you, my buddies from .mobi and of course our foreign friends! :)
On a slightly more serious note, I’ve been asked by the British Council (and
I have agreed) to mentor a Hong Kong based mobile games company under the
‘Digital Pioneer Programme’ – which I’m helping them to improve also. Do we
have any games developers, aggregators, operators or other related companies
that I can talk to on this list? I'm looking for people who can help them
better understand the Irish market and possibly sell to it. If you're a
competitor then perhaps there's potential for a partnership!
As a side note, I'm meeting the Head of Enterprise Ireland to discuss how to
improve the ecosystem for startups in Dublin and would like to hear from
those interested in getting involved.
If you're interested in any of this please read my recent blog post for more
information. http://segala.com/blog/european-startups-vs-the-us-upstarts/
Thanks
Paul

Well, it’s just Mobile Monday Dublin. Nobody said you had to be Irish :)
It was a good mix of 20+ people last night. Thanks to .mobi for the venue
and finger-food! Interesting to hear that the mobile games community has
just as much of a challenge with device diversity as those of us in the
Mobile Web space. So much for “write once, run everywhere”.
Also interesting to hear many agreeing that it’s not the device information
(properties, description, characteristics or whatever you want to call them)
that’s important; it’s what you *do* with such information. Well, we have
lots of information on devices that we think is important to us, and what we
do is make it possible to get great experiences from the mobile Web
browsers. So, if you could have any information you wanted about mobile
devices, what you *you* do with that information? We could see some
interesting business ideas… :)
Until the next MMD. Cheers!
---Rotan.

Am I going mad or did I just see Sean and Dom? Who let them into the
country?

Hi,
Thanks for coming to last night's Mobile Monday - I hope you all enjoyed
yourselves. The tone felt just about right ;-)
A few photos are up on Flickr at

Rotan and Ronan won prizes for their Siemens S4 and Palm Pilot
respectively. Nice!
Next we need to figure out when and where the next event is going to be
- and if anyone would like to volunteer as sponsors. Any volunteers,
please let me know... :-)
See you all again soon,
James
