Offered: Free stuff (and save the planet)!   Message List

Hi all,
this is unashamedly off topic but I have to share it with you as it is
such a good idea and applies to all of you - Freecycle.

If you need something you usually go to a shop and buy it, but chances
are that somewhere near you there is someone who has that item, and
doesn't need it. But how do you find that person? This is where
Freecycle comes in.

There is a message board for your local area (Plymouth, South Hams
Exeter etc) - Post a notice stating what you need, someone will get
back to you. Alternatively if you've got something that has been
hanging around taking up space that's too good for the tip, but not
really worth putting on eBay - somebody wants it! So offer it for
collection.

How does this save the planet? Stuff doesn't end up in landfill, and
only moves around locally, it does not get imported from the other
side of the planet.

It's only a load of rubbish that changes hands, right? Wrong! Amongst
all the stuff in Plymouth board has seen change hands for free in one
week - dvd players, computers, bicycles, three piece leather suites
and my fridge and my freezer.

So what are you waiting for? Get some free stuff, free up some space
and save some carbon.

Visit www.freecycle.org to find your nearest network!
