I went to the AGM for the first time this year. I dont know if I'll
be going again. The Commitee do a really good job and should be
thanked for all their efforts. Many of the proposals had already been
discussed on here, but were subject to lengthy discussion on the
day.I had already had a long day and with the prospect of a long
drive ahead, I thought that the AGM would be an hour at the most.
I do feel that people have a right to have their say, but to be so
long-winded and repetitive was a waste of everyone's time.Can I
suggest that discussion of proposals has a time limit(at the Chair's
discretion)- with everyone able to speak once and then move on.
So much time was taken up going over old ground repeatedly. As a
result, the hall got very cold as the sun went down, our ratties who
had been like us hot all day, then got cold. I hadnt put them in the
car when the meeting started because it was still so warm, I wished
I had by the end.We were all tired and uncomfortable and no good can
come of discussing things in that state. Were the two people who were
challenging everything trying to make the commitee look bad or the
club? A lot of things were down to common sense and mountains were
made of them. If those two people are so unsatisfied with the
running of the club, I wonder why they dont leave and form their own
and leave the rest of us to enjoy the club as it is. Either that or
they need to stand for election and change things that way.
