We've got a couple of gigs not to be missed this week.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 7th Nov) at Henry's, 8pm, £4
MANATEES + GASGIANT + one tbc (last minute suggestions welcome!)

MANATEES have an album just out on Motivesounds but are a lot
heavier and slower than your average Motivesounds band. They
describe their sound as "crushing highs meeting devastating low ends
with a placid calm under-current running throughout". You can check
them out here: http://www.myspace.com/manateetheband
GASGIANT: for those who don't know yet:

Then Friday sees the return of our favourite French nutters
Gatechien, this time accompanied by another French band, Le Singe
Blanc.

Friday 10th November at Henry's, 8pm, £4 for mailing-list members +
friends
GATECHIEN + LE SINGE BLANC + JACOB FLYNCH

GATECHIEN - bass + drums + vocals + screaming math-rock / post-punk
duo. http://www.myspace.com/gatechien
"Gātechien's music is raw, stark and harshly compelling.
Bassist/singer Laurent Paradot torturously carves out leads while
spewing agonized grunts, groans and syllables that don't sound like
words in any language, or occasionally humming along with his own
bass parts. Drummer Florian Belaud's complex beats make up in energy
for what they sometimes lack in precision; he and Paradot have
enough rapport that a third band member would be unnecessary. The
songs are disjointed in structure but flow intriguingly from one
dark melody to another. If they were more polished or polite,
Gātechien might be just another math-rock band, noteworthy only for
their lack of guitar - but the brutal vocal antics alone would keep
them from putting anyone to sleep. For an overall impression of
Gātechien, a bad translation of one opinion about the duo is quite
apt: "This group is likely to put a good slap to you". "
Splendidezine
LE SINGE BLANC - twin-bass post-punk attack from France (pretty
close to where I'm from too) http://www.myspace.com/lesingeblanc
JACOB FLYNCH - one of the most exciting bands in Edinburgh at the
moment, check them out here http://www.myspace.com/jacobflynchmusic

Hope to see you at those gigs, and please help spread the word...
It seems the previous mail-out didn't work but if it did sorry if
you received this twice...

Claire
