Scotland's First Marine Bill - "Sustainable Seas for All"
Wednesday 10 September 2008 - Inverness - Tulloch Caledonian Stadium

Proposals for Scotland's first Marine Bill have now been launched, and the Scottish Government is keen to have your views.

The Moray Firth Partnership is holding events around the Moray Firth to give as many people as possible the opportunity to find out more about the proposals, and to question senior Government officials on issues relating to marine planning, licensing, marine nature conservation, science & data issues and "Marine Scotland".  These are part of a programme of free events around Scotland, to raise awareness of the consultation and to encourage participation in the consultation itself.

The first Moray Firth area event is at Inverness on Wednesday 10 September, at the Inverness Caledonian Stadium, from 11.00 to 16.30.  Registration starts at 10.30.  This event will provide a forum, through the use of workshops, for more in depth discussion of the consultation's main themes and the individual questions in the consultation document.  Question and answer sessions will allow delegates to question Scottish Government Marine Directorate officials who have been involved in drafting the consultation.

The programme and booking form are attached, together with a flier with details of where to find further information, and get a copy of the consultation document.

We hope to hold further events in Caithness and in the Moray / Aberdeenshire areas in the week commencing 22 September, subject to the availability of Government officials, who have a very full programme of consultation events around Scotland.

Details will be posted on the Moray Firth Partnership website www.morayfirth-partnership.org and on the Government website, www.scotland.gov.uk/marinebill and circulated by email as soon as these have been confirmed.

All events are free, but prior booking is required.  Could you please forward this invitation to anyone else that may be interested?

This notice is being circulated through a number of organisations, so we apologise if you receive a duplicate mailing.

We hope you will be able to attend one of these events, and look forward to hearing your views on the future of Scotland's seas.

Regards
Kathryn Logan
