Hi,
I am new to the forum. As a member of APDUK, and a parent of a son
with suspected APD who is very bright and an older daughter who is
also bright,I have found very little help in the UK for those parents
and carers who are in the same position. Dual exceptionalities, as it
is termed, is a very difficult issue to deal with and almost
impossible to get diagnosed, as the learning difficulties are often
masked by the brightness and vice versa, and schools tend to deal
with the one factor that causes the most problems instead of dealing
with both. As a result, I recently started a forum providing support
and useful links and articles on related topics, PARENTS OF THE
BRIGHT AND GIFTED. I also set up an anti-bullying website after my
son, my friends and their children with special needs suffered
bullying at school and bullying in the workplace, providing advice on
how to tackle these problems and a creating a support network in the
UK, US, Australia and New Zealand, ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL. Links
to these sites are in the bookmark section if anyone should need them.
