PARENT CHAIN will be held at the WHEATSHEAF PUB (Moor
Lane, next to railway crossing)on Tues 2nd July at

whats going on.<br>Chez
Because of a recent article in the Selby times
where a boy attempted to take his life, i have made
additional links. Unfortunately, this means that some links
may have to go.<br>If a link is deleted and you feel
that it should remain, please leave a message and
state your reasons why.<br><br>All parents are welcome
to discuss any bullying issues, share their
experience and hopefully be able to cope with bullying in a
positive way.<br>CHEZ
Hi Elaine, good to have you here. If you know of
any other parents, particularly who have children
with special needs, then please recommend
them.<br><br>I run a local parent support group. I also work in
primary school and run the out of school club in the
village.<br><br>My son age 12 has DEVELOPMENTAL CO-ORDINATION
DISORDER (DCD) Is your daughter in secondary and have you
experienced any problems?<br><br>The parent group are trying
to get my sons school to publish their SPECIAL NEEDS
POLICY so we can have copies to refer to. <br>Should be
an easy task really seeing as we are entitled to a
copy.<br>Strange really! They seem to think that its
confidential!<br>We WILL get a copy of course, eventually.<br>It can
be so annoying for parents when they learn that
their rights and that of their childrens is being
ignored.<br>This is one of the reasons why those in authority
suffer confrontations. The group feel it's much better
to confront as a group rather than individuals
because then it can become a personal thing. This lessens
the risk of repercussions for the child
involved.<br>Chez
ok, ok so i haven't been up to scratch lately and
my IT skills aren't that good. But i am trying
honestly!<br><br>Could be due to the fact that teachers get IT training
and i have to pay for mine!<br><br>Anyway, i know a
very nice man who can (Graeme).<br>Thanks for your
time and efforts in helping to get my website off the
ground. That blue fly has been busy hasn't he! LOL

Hi everyone<br>I think I qualify to become a
member here - I am a parent and I live in North
Yorkshire.<br>My name is actually Elaine (but will answer to
Laney, Ellie or Elaine). I am 41 years old, have been
married to Steve for 23 years and we have 3 daughters
ages 22, 21 and 13.<br>I'm not sure how much more to
tell you about myself at this stage so will finish
this message here.<br>I am looking forward to getting
to know everyone here and swapping tales of the joys
and the pain of being a parent!<br><br>Elaine
Anyone in the area including Sherburn-in-Elmet
will have the opportunity to meet our newly appointed
Educational Psychologist. (A very nice man).<br>This is of
interest to parents with special educational needs
children.<br><br>Please leave a message if you are interested so i can
leave further details.<br><br>Chez
Hi Lynette, thanks for the message. Lots going on
here too and i do expect it to be slow over the
holiday period. Talking of which, you lucky
person!<br><br>Can you tell us more about the condition you
mentioned and you are affected?<br><br>Chez
Hi Chez,<br>Sorry it has been so long, but I just
got so caught up with all my studying, which I hasten
to add payed off very nicely.<br>I havent really
been around my other group very much for the chats on
friday nights which is quite bad of me.<br><br>Lots of
things have been happening, I found out a while back
that I have borderline APC Factor V Leiden, so may
have to go on warfarin to thin the blood because it
does nasty things and really is quite similar to what
trina has.<br><br>Also big news I,m going to be a
grandmother in 4 months time thanks to the oldest one and his
girlfriend.<br>Doing a couple of nights at work now as well, 10 hour
night duties, so dont get on the computer as much as I
used to.<br><br>We are all off on holiday on 8th June
two weeks in Florida, hopefully we will hook up with
a couple of friends out there.<br><br>Well thats
all for now.<br>Hugs<br>Lynette
Thanks for the link Graeme and your
condolences.<br>My mum was a unique lady who will be remembered for
her love, honesty and respect.<br>Hard to find these
days!<br>I'm glad that she left the most precious gifts in
life and that we have taught our children the
same.<br>She will be sadly missed.<br>3 of her grand-children
will be reading their poems at the funeral. My
daughter being one of them. I will be so proud of
her.<br>Must run in the family!<br>CHEZ
Hi all<br>i found this the other day, and it
really is the best description of my disability to date.
About 90% right, if you leave out some the sensory
bits.<br>it is called<br> I Think in Pictures, You Teach in
Words<br>and is at<br>
<a href=http://web.one.net.au/~giftedrc/ithink.htm
target=new>http://web.one.net.au/~giftedrc/ithink.htm</a><br>take a look

Yeah, this is the guy that we sent the feedback
sheets to about the new code of practice draft.<br>It's
supposed to be out offically at the end of this month and
come into action in Sept.<br>The only thing i have to
complain about is while the SENCo's are doing in house
training for staff...i would like to know why classroom
assistants will not receive a pay for the additional time
they will stay in school for this training which is
much needed to benefit the child/ren.<br>Equal
opportunities should mean this.
Hi all<br><br>I have come into contact with a
person at the Department of Employment and Education,
who works for the Educational Special Needs
section.<br>He has a special interest in assessing his
departments performance in the provision of Special Needs
facilities in schools through out the UK. <br>And to help
him in his task he needs as much Feedback as possible
from parents of children with Disabilities who reqire
Special Needs help<br>To biuld a balanced picture he
needs both the good and bad stories you have to report.
<br>Please pass this message on to other parents of children
who require Educational Special Needs, so that i can
assess the size of the learning disabled population from
dyslexia to Autism and many more.<br>So please send your
comments to <br>Andrew Taylor
<br>at<br>Andrew.TAYLOR@...<br><br>dolfrog
Hi Marrianne, look in the links for ARK MEDIA. They have a selby chat so you
could leave the same message there and hopefully get some results.<br>Keep us
posted.<br>Chez
Hi all<br>I have had some contact with my doctor
friend in Greece and he is trying to create a medical
business link with some of our medical institutions in the
UK.<br>Any ideas please let me know.<br><br>Graeme
Not sure if this is appropriate for here. But I
would love to catc up with old school friends. Most
will be in their 50's now. They would have gone to
Riccall primary school. Only know their maiden names.
Carol Frazer - Daine Cresie - and Susan Oakland. I
would love to catch up with these and others from that
era.<br>Marianne (Routh)
Hey, thought i'd tell you my good news.<br>last
year i wrote a poem about dyspraxia, based on both my
son's and my experience.<br>Isent it to the Dyspraxia
Foundation who published it in their MIDLINE mag.<br><br>I
entered the poem for a new book which will be published
this May.<br>The poem has been chosen and the book
will be called A SILVER LINING. This is a compilation
of poems sent by carers and sufferers of any
condition/disability.<br>10% of the proceeds will go to ACTION FOR
