I dont know who you are but please stop posting this stuff in the
group, it isnt wanted or needed.
This group is for parents who have special needs children and if you
had taken the time to look at the Previous posts and other things in
this group then you would have realized this.

Hi All
Due to some recent problems we have experienced with some of the
pages on
our web site (Home page, and Book page), we have changed to host of
the
APDUK web site. Although we have not changed much of the site's
content, the
structure of the site has changed In time there will be more changes
as I
discover how to use the new options.
The home page is now accessible as before via the domain name
http://www.apduk.org which has been transferred to the new site.
The other main domain name used in the past http://www.apduk.org.uk
is still
pointed at the "Uk Professional Page" of the old web site, for the
near
future. but it will become part of the new structure probably in the
New
Year.
The apduk.info domain may be used in the future in some capacity.
There are also some new web site section addresses
http://www.infolinks.apduk.org/ The links pages section
http://resources.apduk.org/ The new resources section, which was the
old
handouts section
http://www.books.apduk.org/ The new books section
http://www.infosheets.apduk.org/ the old mono coloured text section,
useful
for printing our more popular pages.
http://www.apduk.org/membership.html The members section of the web
site
still uses some of the pages on the old site. Some of the new facility
options will be added to this section, when I learn how to use them
and add
them to the site.
Best wishes

Just to let everyone know that NYCC parent pupil services have now
changed their website!
It just goes to show that if you persevere then you can achieve
results!
However, although they have included a DYSPRAXIA page, they have
failed to take away the statement of 'dyspraxia not included'.
Parents still feel that this statement is discriminating!
Hi Lynette
Yes thee is a link on my UK siter to Jills site, and she maintains
contact via my guestbook.

Hi Chez,
How you doing sweetie?
I have some flyers from a lady called Jill Curtis, she has written a
book called. Does Your Child Have A Hidden Disability.
You need to check her website out

Its very good, I know Graeme has a link to her website on his
website, dont you Graeme as Jill told me.
The flyers are for the book Jill has written and I am going to stick
some at the CDC.

Hi all
Thought you may have heard of this new idea which seems to be being
rolled out in some secondary Schools this year.
Some achools are producing a profile sheet for each from or year. On
the sheet is a picture of the pupil beside which is a brief
description of their SEN needs etc. This form is given to all the
teacher who teaach those children at the beginning of the academic
year. This should lessen the time you find yourself explaining your
childs disability at parent/teacher evenings. The dept of Ed is aware
of this new scheme and some of schools who are introducing it this
year.
Specialist schools are more likely to roll out this scheme, as not to
may endanger their Spaecial Status, and the extra grants etc.

Hi,
I am new to the forum. As a member of APDUK, and a parent of a son
with suspected APD who is very bright and an older daughter who is
also bright,I have found very little help in the UK for those parents
and carers who are in the same position. Dual exceptionalities, as it
is termed, is a very difficult issue to deal with and almost
impossible to get diagnosed, as the learning difficulties are often
masked by the brightness and vice versa, and schools tend to deal
with the one factor that causes the most problems instead of dealing
with both. As a result, I recently started a forum providing support
and useful links and articles on related topics, PARENTS OF THE
BRIGHT AND GIFTED. I also set up an anti-bullying website after my
son, my friends and their children with special needs suffered
bullying at school and bullying in the workplace, providing advice on
how to tackle these problems and a creating a support network in the
UK, US, Australia and New Zealand, ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL. Links
to these sites are in the bookmark section if anyone should need them.
I can empathise with you. It took me 2 yr to get my child's
difficulties recognised, they must have been obviously apparent to
his school. BUT, if they display statements like this, no wonder the
kids don't get support. Please ask others to complain and ask for its
removal. Thanks for your support.
By the way, have you ever had access to a list of 'Named persons'now
known as IPS independant parental supporters? These are trained
volunteers who can help parents in meetings and Statutory
Assessment/Statements. Which educational area dop you come under?

Hi Chez,
Thats disgusting, I have the page up and what a laugh.
Considering my daughter has co-ordination problems, the only help she
now gets in school is from the occupational therapist.
According to the special needs medical teacher that is the only help
my daughter now needs in school.
It pees me off.

I was amazzzzzed to find that NYCC PARENT PARTNERSHIP page for parent
pupil services actually makes a statement that they do not include
support for mild dyspraxia and co-ordination difficulties!
I am urging parents or anyone who has this condition to visit this
site www.northyorks.gov.uk/pps/sensory/physical.shtm at the bottom of
this page you will find a complaints section. Please take some time
to respond to this. It sounds discriminating to me to name a specific
condition, especially since my child is affected by the condition in
EDUCATION.
