Hi
It has been a busy time so busy that I have had little time to post
anything here so sorry for that (must try harder)
In brief I have been breaking things left right and centre.
Athea was my first race where the commando broke its primary belt the
350 was flying and up to 4th place when that stooped and the F1 went
fine except for a funny noise (more on that later)
Since Athea I have been off work with the chickenpox.
I wasn't fully recovered but assured that I wasn't contagious so I
went to Faugheen.
I love these smaller Irish meetings the Clubs are so enthusiastic and
I admire any club that can start a new road race.
Faugheen is in the sunny south west of Ireland and it certainly lived
up to its reputation with 2 days of scorching weather.
I had told the team that I might not race if I wasn't feeling ok but
I didn't expect to blow 3 bikes.
I had an e mail off Ken saying that the 350 was worse than we thought
and that it would be unlikely to make it. The commando went ok for 2
laps then striped the primary and the F1 had its first mechanical
failure in 12 years when I noticed a noise and a vibration in 1st and
2nd gear, this turned out to be a broken gear.
So we went to the pub which is 200 yards from the paddock and stayed
three until we were full.
Had a lovely day watching the racing and won a trophy and a 50 Euro
note at the presentation (The battling adversity trophy apparently?)
Stayed the night for more beer and home the next morning.
I have since rebuilt the F1 and am about to look at the commando.
I hope to be at the Ulster GP for the post classic race and then go
to the isle of man for the Manx GP on the 350 (the entry was turned
down for the F1?)
See you at the races
Huw
