Description

The United States SOTA Amateur Radio Club (USSARC) has the club callsign of nS0TA. The club "mission" is participation in Summits on the Air (SOTA) , a worldwide radiosport program for ham radio and SWL folks to either "activate" qualifying summits/peaks or for "chasers" to make contact with those activaters. SOTA is a program that started in England and encourages licensed radio amateurs who enjoy hiking and the great outdoors to take their radios with them and operate from the mountain tops. An award scheme recognizes those who activate the summits, those that make QSOs with the activators and Short Wave Listeners. Participants can be anywhere in the world.

This group is for discussions specifically about USSARC club activities and events associated with the S0TA program, particularily in North America. Postings to this group that are not directly SOTA related or are offensive will be deleted and, in extreme cases, the poster will be deleted from the group. When posting to the group, please always include your name and callsign at the end of your post.

Here, in addition to the full reflector message archive, you will find lots of other information and links to SOTA activities including:

1) http://www.sota.org.uk : All the rules, reference manuals, etc. to enable you to participate fully in SOTA. The SOTA web site has full information on all the Associations, all documentation, and links to other official resources and much more!

2) This centralized website has an online database, which allows Activators and Chasers to keep track of their scores. SWLs are welcome and are invited to participate in the SOTA program. See http://www.sotadata.org.uk/

3) See the SOTAwatch website for activation alerts and real-time spotting at http://www.sotawatch.org/index.php

This Reflector is administered by the W7-OR Association Manager. Please direct any and all questions to Guy, N7UN at my QRZ.com email address.
