Hi group,
Been awfully quiet on the group lately!
Anyway, recently I've signed up to last.fm. If you're not familiar with
last.fm, it's a internet radio-cum-social networking site based around
music. It keeps track of what you listen to and uses that ti compile a
customised radio station tailored to your tastes. It seems to me to be
a good way of getting smaller bands' music exposed to a wider audience,
especially those bands that don't get airplay on mainstream radio. I've
already ordered Wishing Tree's album based on hearing a couple of plays
by them.
It's definitely *not* an illicit file-sharing site; tracks uploaded by a
band will be streamed by last.fm radio, but aren't available for
download unless the band decide to allow it. They're either streamed as
part of their customised radio station, or available as 30-second sound
clips on demand.
At the moment, there's nothing from Odin Dragonfly on there, so they're
not getting any plays :(
